Demsey Mckean reminds me of Shane Cameron.

I'm sorry, craig, but don't see it.  McKean is 6'6" and a southpaw.  I saw the last half of the Rice fight with McKean and he was terrible.  Arm weary, not engaging, holding nonstop.  He was lucky to get the TKO against a very ordinary Rice, who ran out of puff and basically fell over with 18 seconds to go.  Both were pathetic.  Parker would KO him early.  Still, he's undefeated, and from OZ, so why not?

I meant great white hopes who'll under achieve. Cameron had a good career but it could of been so much better.

Cameron's only good win was against Monte Barrett. I was ringside at that fight. People used to poo poo him, and I'm no great fan of his, but to be in the top 50 in your profession isn't so bad. Lots of people wouldn't mind that.

Craig, not sure what he could have done better. He was very ordinary, with a huge heart. I always felt that when he got his top ten ranking, he should have gone for it and faced a top ranked contender. Not LL or a Klit, but a top 5 guy.

In fairness to Shane he was a smaller HW -decent power but not explosive power, huge heart as you stated and champion work ethic.
Caught between two weight classes really, just not the speed, movement or agility needed to be a cruiser champ.
Danny Green beat him via the scales.
Who knows what may have happen if he held on v Friday... was going well until his heart start pumping blood via his eyebrows.
Gets alot of flack for the Tua fight but he made them both $$, as we know Tua had insane power but terrible work ethic... Cameron woke the beast unfortunately for him that night.
Was rapt for him to get that Barrett KO - a career highlight
Did pretty well after boxing as well- should be regard as a Kiwi sports hero I think.

I was living in NZ for the duration of Shane Cameron's career and there was always such a buzz about him, he was always back page news and all his latter fights were all live on sky. I just think he could have been more, but you're both right. He was pretty iconic throughout NZ for a good few years.

Would you say Demsey McKean would be happy to have the career Shane had?

Yeah, thanks for putting that fight up. I wasn't overly impressed either. He was badly rocked a few times in that fight by Rice's right hand and is a KO waiting to happen I feel when he eventually steps up with the way he leaves his chin up in the air. Lacks a decent jab as well with someone his size
