It was as if he couldn't figure out how to stop Lewison, and Lewison didn't look that hard to catch. Still its not a bad debut, stopping a guy who fought for the British title in his last fight.

DiBella speaks: The greatest danger to AJ in the world is Deontay Wilder

British promoter Eddie Hearn has a great idea: Deontay Wilder gives his fighter Dillian Whyte a shot at the WBC title and then the winner fights Anthony Joshua in a massive unification showdown next year.

But US promoter Lou DiBella doesn’t like the idea, not one bit. DiBella, in speaking with Sky Sports, said that in his opinion Dillian Whyte is “irrelevant” in the career of Deontay Wilder and that “the concept that we would somehow feel obligated, or the necessity to fight Dillian Whyte for a chance to fight Anthony Joshua is a joke.”

DiBella insists Wilder, unbeaten at 38-0(37), is not fearful of any single heavyweight in the world but how at the same time he will not be dictated to by anyone.

“In the past – this is a fact – we offered Hughie Fury on numerous occasions to fight Deontay. He turned us down,” DiBella said. “We would love to fight Joseph Parker at any point, any place. They can put it in a soccer stadium in New Zealand and Deontay will still knock him out. We’re not running from that fight. We’re not running from any fight. It’s nothing personal against Dillian Whyte, but I have no need to discuss Dillian Whyte. Dillian Whyte is irrelevant to the future of Deontay Wilder. If Dillian Whyte is such a force, why is AJ fighting Carlos Takam and not Dillian Whyte?”

It’s an interesting question DiBella asks: as many fans actually felt that when Kubrat Pulev pulled out, Joshua would look Whyte’s way, as Whyte is already fighting on the Oct. 28 card (against Robert Helenius) and set up a rematch of their great 2015 slugfest. But instead AJ gets Takam and Hearn wants Wilder to defend against Whyte. It isn’t happening though, as DiBella makes clear.

But one day, a Wilder-Joshua clash WILL happen; it simply has to, as Joshua understands completely. DiBella rates Joshua, but he says Wilder is the most dangerous heavyweight in the world today – and plenty of people agree with him.

“I think AJ is a great young fighter, but I think the greatest danger to AJ in the world is Deontay Wilder,” DiBella stated. “I think the fight will eventually happen.”

Hopefully, if Joshua takes care of Takam and Wilder does the same in his November 4 return with Bermane Stiverne, these two young and unbeaten champions will fight each other next summer.

Helenius: I will definitely KO Whyte

Heavyweight Robert Helenius says he’ll knock out Dillian Whyte and ruin his world title dreams when they clash for the WBC Silver title at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday. “I will definitely win by knockout,” said Helenius. “He will definitely fall. I know it will be a tough fight, but it will be a tough fight for Dillian more than it will be for me, and it will be a loss on his record, that’s it. I hope he stands and fights with me and doesn’t run, as his reputation suggests.
“I have absolutely no worries about ring rust because I am always, always in training. I feel I have ten years left in boxing, and during this time I will definitely become world heavyweight champion. I have no doubts.
“This is my fight, not his, and I do not care about Whyte or what he does well. I have seen his fight with Joshua, where he was knocked out, and he will suffer a similar defeat when he steps in with me. Make no mistake, I am coming to the UK to conquer!
“This fight will assist me in getting a world title shot. I want a fight with Wilder, I know I can KO him and I will KO him if I get the fight with him. In my opinion, Joshua is the best of the current heavyweight champions. Of course, I want to fight him also.”
Helenius’ clash with Whyte is part of a huge night of action in Cardiff where Joshua defends his World Heavyweight titles against Carlos Takam, one of three World title clashes as Katie Taylor challenges WBA World Lightweight champion Anahi Sanchez and Kal Yafai defends his WBA World Super-Flyweight title against Japanese mandatory challenger Sho Ishida.

Whyte beats Helenius in snoozer

WBC #3, IBF #6, WBO #6, WBA #8 heavyweight Dillian Whyte (22-1, 16 KOs) outpointed IBF #9 Robert Helenius (25-2, 16 KOs) over twelve mostly uneventful rounds at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Helenius landed some hard shots in round two. Whyte pretty much took over after that. Helenius was gassed and seemed to be hampered a hand injury, but Whyte was unable to take advantage. In the end, Whyte won 119-109, 119-109 and 118-111 to claim the WBC silver title.

You mean HE is choosing not to look at unifying. Hearn is issuing ultimatums for Wilder to go thru Whyte to face AJ...and Hearn is low balling Duco at 20%.

Hearn must have more than a commitment between him and Whyte. AJ has all the pulling power between him and Parker. It's a no brainer no more than 30%. Craig isn't a troll.
