Here is another write up.....Bloody Duco getting more of my money now! As mippy said, they did what they said they would. It's more than some promoters out there can do. GO JOE!
Very excite!
Been reported that he winner of Parker / Ruiz must fight Hay within 120 days. http://www.boxingscene.com/parker-ruiz-approved-wbo-belt-winner-face-david-haye--109936 That's still a box off...

This was the first mention of "The Road to the Title". It's interesting how things turned out from this article. In all fairness, the title shot will actually happen within the year that Duco predicted.

Gotta hand it to Lonergan and Duco. Yes, Lonergan is a loud-mouthed, but he made it happen! Hey, this is boxing, the home of the loud-mouths.
Everybody sorta got what they wanted. As previously stated, a box off was never gonna happen. But the WBO supposedly has forced Parker to face Haye in 120 days. But why Haye and not Klit, who is higher ranked? Also, what does this do to Parker being the IBF mandatory, set to negotiate a deal by the end of November with a fight mandated by March? If Parker wins, does he defend his title against Haye in 120 days or fight AJ in March? Interesting times ahead!

I'd expect that if Parker holds a belt, the IBF mandatory is no longer enforced.
If Haye is the mandated next fight after Ruiz, I think Parker should go down the IBF route instead. Haye is extremely dangerous, more dangerous than AJ, and the fight will most likely be in the UK. So Parker fights Ruiz in NZ, then Haye in the UK. Not good. I think they should fight on December the 10th against a decent opponent in the UK, then fight AJ after that. |
