Ramirez, Hunter score KOs in Galveston, Texas

Unbeaten WBC #1, WBA #4, #WBO #8 light heavyweight Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs) won a by tenth round KO over IBF #11, WBO #12 Alfonso “El Tigre” Lopez (32-4, 25 KOs) to claim Lopez’ NABF title on Friday night at the Galveston Island Convention Center in Galveston, Texas. In his first bout in 20 months, Ramirez dropped Lopez in round two and dominated the fight from long range after that. The end came in round ten when Ramirez floored Lopez with a flush right hand. Time was :59.

IBF #4, WBO #8, WBC #9, WBA #10 heavyweight Michael “The Bounty” Hunter (19-1-1, 13 KOs) won by fourth round KO over Shawn Laughery (10-4, 6 KOs). Hunter dropped Laughery in round one and dominated the bout until he floored Laughery again in round four. Laughery was counted out at 1:02. Hunter hit Laughery when he was on a knee after the second knockdown. No foul called.
