RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 10-09-2015 I do think that Parker will prevail, Sham. But it's not a done deal, and it's definitely possible that Meehan can lay him out cold. Well, Parker does have the Skip Punch going for him...but yeah, if Parker loses, and he'll only lose by TKO or KO, his career is essentially over as we know it. We don't know how Parker would handle a slugger, because he got Tupou out of there early. Weirdly, the main optimism I have is that Parker has or had been training with Stiverne in Vegas, a boxer that I respect. I cant believe you said that sham lol..but you are so right..Davey earned a lot of fans due to his killing spree in US..from this small part of the world beating fighters in the big US is big..bigger than the sky city in Auckland..lol RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 10-09-2015 Wow did I write that fai...? Could be a hacker do you think... lol RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 10-10-2015 Meehan fights Leamy Tatu (1-3) Thursday. Mismatch. Won't go past the second round. He lost to Clarence Tillman. How do you lose to Tillman? http://boxrec.com/boxer/515756 http://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/willis-meehan-planning-three-fights-in-three-months-as-he-chases-nrl-return/story-e6frf3vu-1227563209723 RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 10-10-2015 Die, can't remember who but Clarence went distance with one or two Aussies. Good journeyman with size and some nous, perfect for young Willie Meehan RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 10-10-2015 Leant that is... RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 10-10-2015 Sham, I forget that guys like Willie Meehan, Izu, even AJ and Parker, have not even fought 15 fights, and I want to put them in with much better competition. I think right now AJ and Parker are matched well, but W. Meehan and Izu fight club fighters with losing records who really can't go more than two rounds with them. How about W. Meehan vs Brice Coe? RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 10-11-2015 Tyson Fury wants Joseph Parker to help prepare for world title fight with Wladimir Klitschko Joseph Parker has helped Wladimir Klitschko, left, and now Tyson Fury, right, is seeking his help for the British heavyweight's title challenge against the big Ukrainian. British contender Tyson Fury is courting Joseph Parker to help him prepare for his world heavyweight title fight against Wladimir Klitschko. The outspoken Fury is a fan of the New Zealand prospect and believes Parker has the size, power and attitude to help tune his game ahead of meeting Klitschko in Dusseldorf on November 28. "He's a very, very good young boxer," Fury's uncle and trainer Peter Fury said from Ireland where they are beginning their latest preparations for a fight that was delayed by a calf injury to Klitschko. "He has got punch power. We like the way he boxes. "He is definitely one for the future, he's definitely very good. We like what we see, we are fans. "We have looked for Joseph Parker to come and join the camp and help us get ready for Klitschko. If he could come up and join us we'd welcome him with open arms because he is a very good prospect." It's another big rap for 23-year-old Parker who, along with his stable mate Izu Ugonoh, won praise from Klitschko after helping prepare the giant Ukrainian for his last title defence against American Bryant Jennings in April. Parker's trainer Kevin Barry hasn't ruled out getting his boxers involved in the Fury camp but won't make any decisions until after Parker completes his latest assignment against the experienced Kali Meehan in west Auckland on Thursday. Ugonoh will fight on Thursday's undercard. Barry sees no political problems with helping Fury after being part of the Klitschko camp but concedes the logistics present real problems, with Parker set to back up quickly against a still-to-be-confirmed opponent at Fight For Life in Hamilton on December 5. Parker has a four-week camp scheduled for Vegas after the Meehan fight. "It's another sign of the growing respect for Joseph and we are getting a lot of options," Barry said. "My greatest concern is the travel involved. We have really got our systems fine-tuned in terms of training in Las Vegas and returning to New Zealand without any problems. Going to Ireland just adds another dimension at the moment. It's a lot of travel, you're flying halfway around the world. "If it worked, we would love to do it. I'm not ruling it out but first and foremost we have to look at our own schedule and what works best for us. "We have a good relationship with the Fury team and Joe and Tyson have had quite a bit of contact. Tyson has been very complimentary and we see Tyson as being one of the best big men in the world right now. We are going to be fighting bigger men so obviously there would be benefits for us." Fury is ranked No 3 with the IBF, No 2 with the WBA and No 1 with the WBO. Klitschko is champion of those organisations well as the IBO, with all four belts on the line in Germany. Parker is ranked No 6 with the WBO, No 13 with the WBA and No 15 with the WBC. The 45-year-old Meehan, who ended Shane Cameron's career late last year, has promised to test Parker in a fight scheduled for 12 rounds. "The boxing purists would say the longer it goes, the more chance he has, being the younger, fresher guy," Meehan said. "But I have a lot of tricks that I'm ready to explode. Tricks for the first round, tricks for the middle of the fight, tricks for the end of the fight.. "There is a lot of pride for me. Whatever happens in the ring, that's my legacy, that's what I will be remembered by." - Stuff |
