RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-25-2022 (05-25-2022, 08:21 PM)bart Wrote: seems the delay could be Lee wife expecting in july OMG. Now we're having to deal with the trainers wife getting pregnant. Who would have guessed that was the reason? Bring back KB? RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 05-25-2022 I think the rematch etc is more likely the reason. I felt JP should have stayed with Hearn, there's things I don't like about hearn but Warren is a complete crook imo. RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 05-25-2022 Gotta be the Warren 3-fight contract, etc. JP could well end up going another path RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 05-25-2022 Hearn is losing heavy weights so not a lot to match against ( seems like he is concentrating on the little fellas more). Warren or staying a free agent may be best at the mo RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-25-2022 So the issue is with Warren, not JJ? Sounds like JJ needs to put pressure on his manager if that's the issue. JJ doesn't care about any three fight deal with Warren promoting JP. JJ losing a lot of money by not fighting JP. RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 05-25-2022 There is talk of a JP/ Whyte rematch Not a bad idea.... RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 05-26-2022 I wonder if no Warren deal is BOXER the next stop for JP -and yes to Whyte rematch Will it be PPV in UK ?? I suppose if JP v Delboy was This postponement/cancellation probably hinders JJ more- he already has been inactive over a year and at 36 only 13 pro fights talking about taking a warm up.... he needs meaningful fights only now RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-26-2022 JP/Whyte. Bad idea. He was owned by Fury. What's the point? $$$? Maybe. JJ is an idiot for not pressuring Warren to make the fight. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-26-2022 Joseph Parker has other options as Joe Joyce fight stalls again Duncan Johnstone Heavyweights Joseph Parker and Joe Joyce are still trying to nail down a fight in London Joseph Parker has other options as his proposed fight with British heavyweight Joe Joyce continues to hit complications. Originally targeted for a July 2 date at London’s Wembley Arena, Joyce’s promoter Frank Warren is now looking at September. It’s been a long haul of long distance negotiations, going on since the end of last year and the deal still isn’t done. “There is no deal, no contract signed,” Parker’s manager Higgins confirmed to Stuff on Thursday. Hall of Fame promoter Warren has been in the game a long time and should have known his premature announcement of Parker v Joyce during the broadcast of Tyson Fury’s last win over Dillian Whyte in late April was fraught with danger. Higgins isn’t wet behind the ears in this game either, having put together several world title fights, and knows the power in negotiation comes with having multiple options. With Parker an elite level heavyweight boasting enviable rankings and now holding free-agent status, there is considerable interest in him. Joseph Parker needs to keep busy. “There are other promoters chasing us hard with other good options,” Higgins said. The Joyce fight still holds appeal and Higgins sensed a deal was close. But the terms would need to be right. Joyce’s handlers have been wanting a multi-fight deal given the importance of the bout that will act as a WBO eliminator with No 1 ranked Joyce and No 2 Parker sitting behind champion Oleksandr Usyk. That has placed increased focus on the contract details, with Higgins looking to make sure things are done in the best interest of his fight. Warren claims the latest complication was Parker’s trainer Andy Lee awaiting the arrival of a baby during the July fight week, putting a question mark over his availability. Higgins said Parker, now back in Auckland and maintaining his fitness levels after keeping sharp by training with Fury at the WBC champion's base in Morecambe, was a realist. He had hoped for a deal in April, then May, then June to no avail. “You play the cards you are dealt … Joe’s not complaining,” Higgins said. Joe Joyce put in a powerful display to demolish fellow British heavyweight Daniel Dubois in February 2020. Warren is equally frustrated. “It has been dragging on,” he told IFLTV. “We’ve had to push it back now to September.” Warren said his plan was to keep Joyce busy by setting up another opponent for the July 2 date. “In the meantime Joe [Joyce] is gonna be out, so we’re looking at a couple of opponents for him. “Hopefully we’ll have that nailed down in the next 24/48 hours and announce that for July 2.” Warren still wants the Parker fight to happen in September. “Providing our man wins, then we’re on, we’ll do it, absolutely,” he said. Parker’s last fight as his decisive points win in a rematch with Britain’s Dereck Chisora last December. Joyce hasn’t fought since July last year when he beat Carlos Takam with the 12th knockout of his 13-fight professional career. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-30-2022 Joseph Parker prepared for 'heavyweight fight of the year' in the UK next New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker is looking to return to the UK for his third consecutive fight as he eyes up clashes with either Joe Joyce or Dillian Whyte. Published: May 29, 2022 Parker's last two fights saw him pick up wins over Derek Chisora, as the former world champion showed improvements under new trainer Andy Lee. Still relatively young compared to his other heavyweight challengers at 30 years old, Parker is looking to jump straight back into the world title picture - which is looking positive as he ranks within the top three in the WBC and WBO. Announced at Tyson Fury's fight, it looked as though the South Auckland native would be facing Joe Joyce. Yet with contract talks seeming to have stalled, Parker and his team are looking for another opponent in the meantime - and the fighter of choice would be former opponent Dillian Whyte. The pair shared a 2018 classic which saw both fighters hit the canvas as Whyte claimed a hard fought win. Speaking to Sky Sports on the potential rematch, Parker's manager David Higgins believes that now is the best time for the rematch to take place. "We've made it clear at all times we'd fight Dillian Whyte then, or now. That stands now because Joseph would love to fight Dillian Whyte. That would be a blockbuster pay-per-view. "It was a war. It was the heavyweight fight of the year. "It's really up to the Whyte camp I think, to signal if they are willing to have that rematch. "There is no better time for a rematch between Joseph Parker and Dillian Whyte. "Joseph is an elite heavyweight and he's got unfinished business with Dillian Whyte, so to stop Dillian Whyte on worldwide TV would be a nice step back towards the heavyweight world title, which is every heavyweight goal. "I already know that Joseph would gladly jump back in with Dillian Whyte. Anytime, anywhere. The real question is - 'is Dillian Whyte up for it? because we've got no time to dither." With the British heavyweight coming off the back off his loss to Fury, it seemed as though he shared a mutual interest in the fight with Parker. Whyte posted an Instagram story reading: "I just want the biggest fights at this stage in my career. Let's go. Put hands on you once and will do it again." Despite the back-and-forth between the heavyweights, Higgins revealed that Parker's future is still unclear, with the Joyce fight remaining in the picture. "There are other options on the table. The Joe Joyce fight would also be a cracker. "There's no contract, but that Joyce fight is close to being contracted and the date has been discussed. "Either one, Joe Joyce or Dillian Whyte would be a big blockbuster event." |
