RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-07-2019 True Msreef, so who would Usyk fight to get into the heavyweight division.....as he is top of the cruiserweight division on all alphabets Im thinking perhaps he may have to go pretty much to the top 3 heavies, or else maybe someone may just step up for a pay day. I guess Deontay might be the safest for him of the big three, Usyk would probably outbox him RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-07-2019 https://www.facebook.com/100008512206545/posts/1976267549333633/ Seems we got it wrong about Parker and Usyk RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 01-07-2019 The WBO have appointed Usyk to the 'Super Champion' status, he can therefore move up one weight class and be mandatory for AJ, essentially forcing the fight. I'm not sure who would be the tougher fight for Usyk between AJ and Wilder. AJ has good fundamentals, and has improved a lot, but I'm not sure he'd easily knock Usyk out. Usyk has a good work rate and stamina, so could trouble AJ late if he lasts that long. Wilder is technically rather poor, and Usyk could outbox him, but he can knock anyone out with one hit. He has good stamina too, and he's massive at 6'7. The only guy that I'd very confidently pick to beat Usyk is Fury. RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-07-2019 We might see a Parker/Usyk fight yet, unless Usyks promoter has already ruled it out by announcing they had turned it down when it wasn't offered in the first place. This fight would be interesting as a loss for either man is devastating for theirĀ future. RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-07-2019 Krassyuk added there is a 70 percent chance that Usyk will make his highly anticipated move up to the heavyweight division and face either Alexander Povetkin or Luis Ortiz. Despite only contesting 16 bouts, Usky has a big resume that includes an Olympic gold medal, and was recently named Fighter of the Year by Sports Illustrated and ESPN. He also took Evander Holyfield's record for becoming the quickest cruiserweight to win a title in just 10 fights. Holyfield took 12 bouts. RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 01-07-2019 Povetkin or Ortiz would both be excellent fights for Usyk. RE: Joseph Parker - African Monkey - 01-07-2019 (01-07-2019, 06:35 PM)Msreef Wrote: Povetkin or Ortiz would both be excellent fights for Usyk. He beats them both comfortably imo but yes a real sign of intent by Usyk's team chasing big fights. Thought he'd be getting lined up by Eddie Hearn to take on Takam/Chisora/Price which would be fine but yeah, if true, it doesn't look like Usyk's team will be mucking around. RE: Joseph Parker - craigyid14 - 01-07-2019 Povetkin would be perfect for Usyk, he's a small heavy and Usyk would beat him easy. Wilder and Joshua would knock Usyk out, they're just far too big but so is the payday so I expect one of these fights to happen down the line, probably the Wilder fight as he comes across as a bully. Fury/Usyk is just all wrong and would be terrible for boxing, on the one hand you have a technically gifted hard working boxer and on the other you have Fury, a lazy mess of boxer (style wise) who trains when he wants, disrespects boxing and would win purely because he outweigh his opponent by the size of a flyweight. In an ideal world Usyk would just dominate cruiser for years, but sadly boxing dictates that the heavyweight champion is the strongest man in the world..... RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-07-2019 IMO AJ flattens Usyk. When you look at it Usyk and Jo Parker are in the same box, no one wants to fight them because of the risk reward ratio they espouse.. to my mind the setup is just right. JP went distance with AJ and while being comprehensively beaten by Whyte he proved he had a ko punch in the last minute. Beating Usyk would put him back on track as the man to beat to get to the top four in the division. For one we would get to see where Parkers really at, at this point there are lots of question marks surrounding his techniques and boxing nous. RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 01-07-2019 I watched Bellew Usyk again - Bellew is a crafty bugger and hit Usyk with many right hands but not strong enough to hurt him. So i tend agree with sham AJ destroys him. He could give Deontay fits but could also taste the canvas. A JP or Whyte - Povertkin opponent would give a great indication where Usyk lies in the HW division. A southpaw battle with Ortiz might be fun also. 2019 could be an interesting HW year |
