RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-06-2018 More from Stuff: https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/combat-sports/106033787/joseph-parker-hits-back-at-critics-and-eager-to-return-to-action-quickly RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-06-2018 https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/combat-sports/106030879/top-boxing-trainer-peter-fury-questions-joseph-parkers-mindset-after-second-loss? RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 08-06-2018 He has the desire but his stamina lets him down. Can this be fixed? Maybe not He needs to treat each fight as a "6 rounder" and go out there to knock their head off. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-06-2018 I think he definitely has what it takes to beat everyone in the division, even AJ and Wilder. The problem is that his physisque sucks, he makes novice errors, KB has taken him as far as he can, and his training needs to improve. All achievable, but not unless he fixes the above. Meaning, a new trainer and training routine. RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 08-06-2018 I heard he had these kinds of problems in the Amateurs May not be fixable I still think he can go totally to WAR for 6 rounds and destroy most opponents RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-07-2018 Boxing: Joseph Parker won't appeal Dillian Whyte defeat Heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker won't appeal his defeat to Dillian Whyte, Duco CEO David Higgins confirmed today. Fronting the media for the first time since arriving back in New Zealand last week, Parker said "I felt like I was in a dream" after suffering a second round headbutt not spotted by the referee. Parker was winning the round until he was dropped by an illegal blow to the head which presumably wasn't seen by English ref Ian John Lewis. Instead of a 10-9 points victory for the New Zealander in that round, the judges had to score it 10-8 in Whyte's favour. Australian judge Phil Austin scored the fight 114-111, Frenchman Christophe Fernandez 115-110 and Englishman Steve Gray 113-112. Had the headbutt been spotted and scored accordingly, Gray would have given the fight to Parker, who dropped Whyte in the final round, and Austin would have scored it a draw, with Fernandez, who for some reason scored the first round to Whyte, giving it to the Englishman. Higgins last week said they were looking at the possibility of appealing the result but have decided against it. "We've taken stock and decided to take high ground," Higgins said. "We're pleased we made some noise. Frankly it was a disgrace." Parker said he has had an MRI following the fight and is waiting on the results. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-07-2018 I Must Get Nasty: https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/combat-sports/106076151/joseph-parker-admits-he-needs-to-get-nasty RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 08-07-2018 But that is not the real problem STAMINA and lack of COUNTER-PUNCHING. Those are the real problems. Parker seems to be exhausted through long stretches in the mid rounds of difficult fights. That is why maybe he should try to blast guys out in 6 - and not hang around. RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 08-07-2018 I rewatched the fight and tbh Parker was making a lot of errors and not fighting well. His movement which can be very good at times, wasn't in this fight. He was as defensivley lapse as ever. Now that he's been GENUINLEY knocked down he might realise that ypu can't just rely on your chin. Honestly I think Joe needs a rest for a bit, go home to Samoa and just lay on the beach and read books for a few weeks, he needs to recharge. Following that it's time for the rebuild and that should be looked at as FUN, not "ugh rebuilding" He's 26, he's still a kid really, take the bloody pressure off him and get back to enjoying boxing. Forget about world titles for 18 months, just have a break then get out, be active. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-07-2018 Infern0, did you think he made more errors and defensive lapses than normal. I thought it was about the same since he started his UK journey. However, I think he DID go inactive for longer periods than normal vs Whyte. Don't know about a vacation, unless it's from KB. Can't believe that he fought that badly and still almost KO'd Whyte in the 12th. |
