He'll become a laughing stock. Interestingly he's ranked above Bryant Jennings on the boxrec rankings 42, vs 43. My pick for Parkers next fight was Jennings RE: Joseph Parker - craigyid14 - 09-26-2017 (09-26-2017, 09:55 AM)mippy Wrote:(09-26-2017, 08:52 AM)craigyid14 Wrote: So he won the vacant title off a fat Mexican, he's defended it against a Romanian who's name I've forgotten already. He'll become a laughing stock. So going by boxrec rankings Parkers defended against no.97 and 27 in the world and now his team are lining up no.42! Wow. RE: Joseph Parker - craigyid14 - 09-26-2017 In line with the other alphabet heavyweight title fights lined up Parker should face Povetkin. Saying he's not ready for certain fighters is a kop out, if he's not ready he should vacate his title. RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 09-26-2017 You have poo pooed everything Parker has done so far craigy. Glad youre being consistent. Glad youre being consistentHe's made it pretty easy lately, his opponents and performances have been very poor. RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 09-26-2017 He can take a voluntary so make it a winnable one for good $$ pretty simple really. The sanctioning body decides who he must fight as a mandatory so you would think that will be a top contender... Why rush ? Make the $ chalk up a win Even Ali fought nobodies like Wepner its nothing new. The biggest thing is Joe needs to improve - he has lost his mojo- needs a confidence boost and better training... a spark RE: Joseph Parker - craigyid14 - 09-26-2017 (09-26-2017, 10:23 AM)bart Wrote: He can take a voluntary so make it a winnable one for good $$ pretty simple really. Wepner fought Foreman and Liston before he fought Ali.... Ali did fight some very unworthy opponents. Im not sure if Wepner was one of them though. Saying he's not ready for certain fighters is a kop out, if he's not ready he should vacate his title. Vacate a title you won? Surely you jest. Parker will fight two/three guys in the top 10 WBO and then cash up with AJ. Sounds like a better option than fighting a Whyte or other tough fighters with a good chance of losing. AJ fought two fighters who were not the best before fighting a 41 year old, past his prime, fighter who lost to Tyson Fury. And Wilder? Can't even go there with his opposition. RE: Joseph Parker - Ibeabuchi - 09-26-2017 Joe needs to be matched better, in his last 2 fights his stock has dropped rapidly in the HW division. In saying that he fought two guys who were just trying to survive, boxing off the backfoot and not throwing a lot Parker doesnt look to be a fighter that is going to work guys out and instinctively change up his offensive game plan, he needs to work on his footwork, his straight punching and not telegraphing his right hook. If he can do that and work behind a stiffer jab and some head movement hes a threat He might never be top tier but with the right mindset and team he could evolve into a very good fighter RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-26-2017 Anthony Joshua will be an easier opponent for Joseph Parker than Hughie Fury: Kevin Barry Joseph Parker could face IBF, WBA and IBO champion Anthony Joshua in the ring as early as July next year at Wembley. Trainer Kevin Barry believes Joseph Parker will find it easier fighting Anthony Joshua than he did disposing of Hughie Fury on Sunday. Barry made the eyebrow-raising call after Parker struggled to put away Fury, winning a majority decision in Manchester to retain his WBO heavyweight belt. "One thing is for sure," Barry told The Guardian, "we won't have to go looking for Joshua. He's going to be right there in our face." Parker's chance to prove that premise could come sooner than expected with The Daily Mirror reporting that a Joshua-Parker clash is being targeted for July at London's Wembley Stadium with negotiations between the two camps underway. The stand-and-deliver style of Joshua would stand in stark contrast to the tactics employed by the twinkle-toed Fury, who danced away from Parker all night. While it wasn't quite the "shades of Ali" that his manager claimed, Fury certainly showed plenty of defensive skill. The big Brit's problem was his total lack of threat on offence, which Barry said, caused Parker to go away from their gameplan. "I wanted Joe to work the double jab a lot more. We actually spent the whole training camp throwing thousands of body shots. Joe sort of went a wee bit away from that. I think Joe actually got a little reckless in the early rounds. He realised as soon as he got out there that Hughie never had the power to get his respect. Hughie was never going to be able to hurt him." Now Parker is eyeing a warm-up fight, possibly against Japan's Kyotaro Fujimoto, before what he hopes will be a unification bout with knock-out artist and IBF champion Joshua. "I think Joseph matches up very well against Joshua and styles make fights," Barry told 5 Live Boxing. "I've also thought his particular style will suit us. "That's a fight we would love to be involved in." Joshua's last appearance at Wembley Stadium, when he beat former champion Wladimir Klitschko in the fight of the year, drew a capacity crowd of roughly 90,000 to the huge outdoor venue. Joshua must first get past Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev (25-1, 13 KOs) on October 28 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The 27-year-old Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) also owns the IBO and WBA championships. - Stuff |
