RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 09-09-2017 Quote:"We've probably been a little bit patient in the last two fights," Barry said in reference to Parker's wins over Razvan Cojanu and Andy Ruiz Jr. I like what I hear. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-10-2017 https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/96676801/joseph-parker-turns-predator-as-he-hunts-down-hughie-fury http://www.boxingscene.com/joseph-parker-hughie-fury-make-break-fight-me--120297 RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 09-10-2017 Peter fury isn't an idiot. Its obvious joe is going to come forward. Let him. Let him walk straight into a muggy inside fight. Joe can only operate at mid range with full extension on his shots. Let him come in and smother him inside. Thatd be my approach RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-10-2017 Parker believes having two training camps for Fury is advantage By Ryan Burton WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (23-0) is in the final weeks of training for the second defense of is title that he captured this past December when he outpointed Andy Ruiz in New Zealand. The fight takes place on September 23rd at the Manchester Arena in his opponent Hughie Fury's hometown in the UK. "Coming into this fight I feel like my body and mind are refocused," said Parker. "I feel like I am more focused than before and I am looking forward to fighting overseas. I will be fighting in his backyard. I have been happy fighting at home with the support of the crowd but it is going to be a challenge and I am looking forward to it." The fight was originally scheduled to take place in May but Fury (20-0) pulled out of the fight in late April with a back injury. When they set foot in the ring both men will have had almost two full training camps to prepare for each other. Parker believes that the extra time will be more of a benefit for himself rather than for Fury. "I feel like in the last camp we worked on a lot of things and in this camp we are introducing more things so I think it is an advantage. I was able to train hard in the last camp but now I can actually get more of a game plan going and I am excited for the fight," Parker told The soon to be 23-year-old Fury has seen his career stall the past two years with injuries and illness. He has only had two fights since his December 2015 victory over Larry Olubamiwo. He did however return to the ring in July and won a six round exhibition bout against Kamil Sokolowski. The fight had to be an exhibition because WBO rules prohibit mandatory challengers from participating in a sanctioned bout prior to the title fight. Parker doesn't expect Fury to show any ring rust and expects to face the best possible version of the Traveller. "He's got a great team, Peter Fury his dad, guiding him, so I am sure he will be ready and prepared for this fight. Being out of the ring isn't helpful but he has been in the gym and sparring so I expect him to be ready when he gets in the ring," said Parker. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-10-2017 https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/4270483/hughie-fury-vs-joseph-parker-tv-times-live-stream-boxing/ RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-11-2017 Joseph Parker labels Hughie Fury fight 'make or break' for his big UK plans WBO heavyweight boxing champion Joseph Parker wants a dominant performance over Hughie Fury to boost his British profile. Joseph Parker has labelled his WBO world heavyweight title defence against Hughie Fury "make of break" for his ambitious plans in the UK. Parker and Fury clash in Manchester on September 24 (NZT) in the Kiwi star's British debut. Desperate to make an impact in the hyped heavyweight market there, Parker knows a win will set up lucrative clashes while a loss will be a disaster. "This is pretty much a make or break fight. You win this fight and it's on to bigger fights but if you lose you have to start again so I am just focused on this. Hopefully I get it done and then I can move forward," Parker told Boxing Scene. Parker's American co-promoters at Top Rank have signed a four-year deal with US broadcasting giant ESPN that will include 18 events in 2018. Parker hopes to get the chance to fight on one of those cards to lift his American profile, but it's Britain where he is desperate to make an impact because that's where the division's biggest names are lurking. "My full focus is on Fury. If everything goes well and if we stay undefeated I am sure I will be back at the end of the year," Parker, who is 23-0 with 18 KOs, said. At 25, it's a pivotal phase for Parker's career. He can make a big move with an impressive win against Fury. He's young enough to recover from what would be an unexpected loss but that rebuild would take costly time. Parker has arrived in London to fine tune his preparations. He will be in the capital for 10 days before transferring north to Manchester in the middle of next week. Parker's arrival on British soil from his Las Vegas base was greeted by some fighting words from Fury, the 22-year-old who has fashioned a 20-0 win with 10 KOs and feels he is finally physically right after battling a skin disease for the bulk of his career. "If he's overlooking me it will be the worst thing he's ever done in his life," Fury told Sky Sports. Fury was quick to defend the calibre of opponents he has faced, a list that pales in comparison to the fighters Parker has had to get past, particularly over the last couple of years. "We've both fought good people. The list of my opponents - people didn't want to fight them. They were avoided because they make people look bad. They were awkward. The people [Parker] has fought were easier fights," Fury countered. "I fought Andriy Rudenko who, at the time, had only lost to Lucas Browne. I had just turned 20-years-old and he'd lost only one out of 26 fights. He was a good opponent. "I've learned my job inside the ring, in sparring and in the great camps that I've been in. People don't see what I've achieved since such a young age because I'm not a big talker. "I've never been in the ring at 100 per cent, but now I can show what I can actually do. That is all behind me and I'm ready to move forward. "He's never fought anyone like me. Especially in heavyweight boxing, it only takes one punch. I will knock him out." Fury has also ripped into Parker and his bosses at Duco Events over questioning the Manchester promotion that is struggling to get traction with poor ticket sales. Fury labelled Parker a "chump" in an attack on Twitter on Monday. Show some respect #Chump RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-11-2017 http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2017/09/andrew-gourdie-joseph-parker-down-the-tube.html RE: Joseph Parker - mippy - 09-12-2017 (09-11-2017, 06:14 PM)diehard Wrote: http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2017/09/andrew-gourdie-joseph-parker-down-the-tube.html If Joe wants to raise his profile he needs a highlight reel KO. Has he got the power to deliver that? RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 09-12-2017 Yep. Put me down for a highlight reel KO in Round 4. I think Hughie is not much better than Dimitrenko.
