Inferno, are you and msreef txting each other... I fuess knockouts cause amnesia as dwyer said because wilder looked like dog crap before the ko I honestly think those guys are better than wilder. Its not a glittering appraisal if joes skill more an indictment on wilder. I think hes one punch away from the david price type of career. RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 02-27-2017 Deontay gets to swinging sure, but I see parker getting clicked as soon as things open up. Parker showed he can be hit by a swinger and i can't see him having the power to go head to head and he would have to to win the fight. I'm thinking duco will dodge that one. I agree with Wilder when he stated they have already dodged him in going for Fury. RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 02-27-2017 Deontay is already way past Price definitively. Price is more on the level of Izu unfortunately RE: Joseph Parker - Veritas - 02-27-2017 Gents, you all make good points for and against Wilder and Parker.. on the basis of punching power and toughness, vulnerability.. I only wish we didn't have to fall back on Joe's toughness for confidence in his success.. and for some reason, I think that is exactly what his team are ultimately relying upon to deliver the dream. It's not enough! Joe is a Champ now. Have things changed? Probably. Gaining the WBO Title will have filled the team with an immense sense of achievement and satisfaction. I'm afraid the heat maybe off Joe to master the craft.. instead, the focus now being - tweaks for fight night strategies and conditioning.. I hope I am wrong and Joe is working on his mobile game - connecting with his hard fast jab - boxing off the balls of his feet, learning to slip jabs whilst rattling right hands onto the opponents head. These are skills.. that need to practiced 1000s of times, studied, worked through, thought about, admired, understood and mastered. Joe has not picked up the skills he needs to head the table where he currently sits. Granted, Joe is as tough as they come and he needs to be, because sadly, he wears far too many punches for a boxer of his standing. I'll just say 'each takes it's toll'. His durability and toughness is no guarantee of anything.. if it was, both Takam and Ruiz would have been flattened and I'd be singing a different song. Instead, these moderates proved epic challenges for Joe.. because, the underlying instinctive baseline (skills) is weak! Joe needs learning. Sham, you're vocal stating KB can't take it from here.. Personally, I'm underwhelmed at where Joe currently is as a boxer. Is KB the problem? We will never know because, KB has made Joe family.. and family stick together if you get my drift. I would prefer a much more professional relationship between the two, rather than a meshed family affair so that, in the event of a difference, the lines are clearly drawn and options are always a possibility. Does Joe really have options in the current gig? This is the Joseph Parker story full stop. But I digress. All heavyweights in the top 10 can bang - that's a given - what sets them apart is skillset and belief. Whatever the game plan or strategy.. skills are the delivery mechanism.. that will determine the result. I hope Joe's rockhard chin is not tested too many times - 'cos one day it will crack... and that Joe doesn't have to resort to 'needing' a KO to win his fights because that is when he will be most vulnerable. V. RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 02-27-2017 Good assesment Veritas. The reason i favour joe is that i think joe is more technically sound than wilder. And also i think he carries the power that guys like washington etc lack to make his shots on wilder do damage. Now look joe has his deficiencies but wilder makes him look like a master boxer. Both guys get hit, both hit hard (although wilder a fair bit harder) but i have faith joe can deliver his power first. The difference between wilder and AJ is that AJ is a structured boxer who has the ability to fight a composed orthadox style (i think power difference is negligable). I belive he would land too easily on parker and parker would struggle to hit him back. So i disagree with dies assesment. I belive wilder is the one to go for. Someone is going to chin him soon enough, it may as well be joe. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQ_HPhdBn73/ RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 02-27-2017 One thing is for sure, 2017 looks great for boxing. By the end of it we should have a clear picture of just how good the 'champs' are. RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 02-28-2017 Veritas cracks it with the family thing, assessment or whatever. It's haRd to put a finger on the culprit. Was Izu part of that family.... KB is the cluck hen at media conferences and I would imagine the same for breakfast dinner and tea. Whether anyone else could do better for Joe is a mute point buried beneath the rubble. I feel their struggle but suggest when the heat is right there in the championship moments, Joe Parker isn't! That's a major. RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 02-28-2017 Very easy to take potshots from afar, considering these guys have gotten further in a few short years than anyone else in NZ ever has. I say give KB a chance. JP is still young and the best is still to come. RE: Joseph Parker - mippy - 02-28-2017 I think Parkers done OK in the Championship moments. He's got past Takam and Ruiz. In both fights there were times where he could have gone into his shell and lost it. Especially against Takam. But he pushed through. He's still young and should have heaps of improvement left in him. He needs to work on his skills, but he's got heart. |
