RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-25-2016 I THINK what Hearn meant is that the Price vs Parker winner will face AJ next. RE: Joseph Parker - tm7 - 08-25-2016 If Parker doesn't fight him in November, which he won't, then he is guaranteed to face AJ next. It gets ordered on November 9. RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 08-25-2016 It would be good experience fighting in the UK before AJ. I hope a fight gets made against a decent opponent. RE: Joseph Parker - bopman - 08-25-2016 Wow fight dimitrenko early October then fight November 26th. Short turn around RE: Joseph Parker - tm7 - 08-25-2016 (08-25-2016, 09:30 PM)bopman Wrote: Wow fight dimitrenko early October then fight November 26th. Short turn around 8 weeks to the day RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 08-26-2016 Jo needs fight at the O2 on an undercard to AJ to get his bearings and local folks sighting to bring the $s up and make it a worthwhile moneyspinner. RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 08-26-2016 AJ's next fight isn't at the O2. It might be at Manchester. Regardless it's good to have a fight in the UK in front of a huge crowd, get the feel for it before facing AJ. If he does end up facing Price in the UK I hope the fight goes a few rounds. Parker needs another learning fight, KOing Price very early won't teach him much. RE: Joseph Parker - mippy - 08-26-2016 After Dillian Whytes last fight I reckon Duco would be keen on giving him a go RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 08-29-2016 British heavyweight David Price eager to fight Joseph Parker on Anthony Joshua world title undercard Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion isn't backing away from suggestions he fights Joseph Parker. English heavyweight David Price is eager to fight Joseph Parker as momentum builds for the Kiwi heavyweight to appear on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's next world title defence. Parker and Joshua are on a collision course with Parker having the mandatory rights to challenge for the big Brit's IBF belt. Joshua's next defence comes on November 26 though it's unlikely to be Parker despite the fight falling in the mandatory period. Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev and Canada's Bermane Stiverne are the names being bandied about. But getting Parker involved in the same promotion is seen as a way of introducing him to the British audience. READ MORE: * Parker claims fourth round KO win v Haumono * Price could be right for Parker And Price wants to be the man steeping ito the ring with the exciting young New Zealander. "I think it's been whispered already about a possible fight with Parker and we've been up for that from day one. It's not like Pricey doesn't want to fight anybody," Price's trainer David Coldwell told Sky Sports in the UK. "It seems the Parker team want the kid to fight. I like their attitude. They want him to be active. "Everyone thinks they've just got to hit Pricey on the chin and they win, so they probably see him as an English name to build the Joshua fight. I don't think they're hesitating." The 33-year-old Price is no slouch. He won bronze at the 2008 Olympics and gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He's a former British and Commonwealth heavyweight professional champion who has fashioned a 20-3 record in the money ranks with 17 victories coming by knockout. But he's not expected to handle Parker's speed, power and versatility. Parker is currently in Las Vegas training for his October 1 fight against Russian Dimitrenko, whose imposing size is being used as preparation for the clash with the physically imposing Joshua. Price is similarly sized and that will add to his appeal as opponent in the eyes of the Parker camp. Parker's big risk ahead of fighting Joshua is that every time he enters the ring his mandatory rights to the IBF belt go on the line. Price sees that as a huge lure to getting in the ring with Parker, with victory speeding up his own dream of a title fight. It's a pressurised environment but Team Parker know they have to keep their fighter busy as they await their title shot. - Stuff RE: Joseph Parker - Dannyboy - 08-29-2016 Would love to see Parker fight Price. He's no mug and looked good a few years ago. I do think his chin is no where near as good as it used to be. I think Parker will be way to quick for him. But lets see how he handles Dimitrenko before we start talking this...lol |
