RE: Joseph Parker - bopman - 05-03-2016 Duco has done a fantastic job of promoting JP. Thats what promoters do and any boxer that has got any where has had good promoters. They sell fights. JP has his rating from jumping through the right hoops at the right time, well done to him and his team for getting in this position. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-03-2016 OK, so Craig wants Parker to win, but Duco to lose $$. Nigs, do you want Parker to lose? Sham? RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-04-2016 Another shot with video of JP and Pilates: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000233200059 RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 05-04-2016 Die, while I see tall poppy expletives and do gooders did no better than Jo at same stage etc as shutdown tactics to any criticism, it doesn't alleviate the fact that duco and Jo are not producing competitive convincing competition where they are required to earn their $40 ppv from the gullible nz public who supply the revenue in making them millionaires. Remember that Duco were the 1st to enter the $40 price tag which used to run about $25-29 for major events. In answer to your question I do want to see Jo win, and while some have suggested we suffer the preliminaries and unending 1st rounders and as we are given time to realize as being Non-competitive money spinners, we at last are to be treated with a viable contest in Jo versus Takam in which might actually result in a real fight. The level of competition from here on could seem credible and nz set to be treated to valid matchings to showcase our heroe's talents. This stage we know Jo is better than any other local talent and we wish for him to excel at the international grade and make it to that high level where we all can appreciate where duco would have us believe. Bring it on, I wouldn't put money on it at this stage because quite frankly we havn't seen enough, but I hope he pulls it off. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-04-2016 OK. Sham and Craig are on board for Parker, but don't like the $$$ associated with it. Me either. $25 is about right. It's what we pay for big fights in the US. And in the UK we sometimes get them for free if you have Sky Sport. Regarding his opposition: I don't think we'd mind his level of competition if we didn't pay $40 for it. After all, it's no different than what Tua, Tyson and other top fighters were served up in their first 20 fights. I actually think he's been matched up very well, and has grown as a fighter enough to where he can compete against a Takam quality of fighter. I do think the undercards could have been matched better, minus the circus acts. My feeling is that I'm for Parker first, and am willing to forego other things mentioned above to support him. RE: Joseph Parker - Boxingfan25 - 05-04-2016 Well Said Guys RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-06-2016 Tyson Fury backs 'nice young fella' Joseph Parker to comfortably beat Carlos Takam Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has given Kiwi contender Joseph Parker a glowing review. Tyson Fury believes Joseph Parker is "coming along lovely" and should easily beat Carlos Takam. In an interview with his father, Peter, for Sportsviewlondon, the heavyweight boxing champion expressed his admiration for the 24-year-old New Zealander ahead of his fight against Takam in Auckland on May 21. The interview covered a number of topics, both about boxing and life in general, but near the end Peter Fury asked his son what boxers he rated. "Joseph Parker, I like him, he's a nice young fella," Tyson Fury said. Peter Fury agreed and said he had been taking tough fights on his way to culitvating an 18-0 record with 16 wins by knockout, leading to the following exchange: Peter Fury: "What I do like about Parker is they're not taking pushovers, are they?" Tyson Fury: "No. They're fighting fighters who can fight back." Peter Fury: "That's what I'm saying, they're fighting good level fighters, so..." Tyson Fury: "He's been managed correctly." Peter Fury: "Yeah and he's learning his job properly so when he steps up he will be ready, he's a force to be reckoned with." Tyson Fury went on to say he expected Takam to give Parker more good experience, but for Parker to extend his unbeaten run. "I like him, I like his style, he's an aggressive, fit young professional. He's coming along lovely and he's got a good fight in Carlos Takam, who will give him some good rounds, but it's a fight that he can win, comfortably."
