Sam Rapira falls to Canadian Ryan Ford in bout for vacant UBO title
Sam Rapira lost via TKO to Canadian Ryan Ford.

Despite his best build-up to date, Sam "The Terror" Rapira suffered the biggest battering of his career, falling to Canadian Ryan Ford via ninth round TKO in their bout for the vacant UBO World Light Heavyweight title in Singapore.

In his 82nd career fight, Rapira gave his best effort in the ring but was unable to blemish Ford's unbeaten record as the Canadian proved too good on the night.

In a post on his Facebook page, Rapira showed the aftermath of the fight which saw him spend the night in hospital.

"I tried my best and was beaten by the better man tonight," his post read.

"Congratulations to Ryan Ford. New UBO world light-heavyweight champion. As embarrassing as it is, I will admit I was just straight beaten by the better man. I truly believed I would win but Ryan was the better man tonight. I feel like I've let everybody down, but please believe I did my best. It just wasn't enough.

"Just came out of the hospital, and never been banged up this much."

Cheers die, what a shame for Sam. He's just not good enough to get to that next level. He is one tough guy though.

Yeah, it's great watching him in Taranaki. I really like him. Yeah, the guy was too tough. James Langton will fight in the Big Bash in Auckland next month. He took some time off after fighting for three years without a break.

From Sam's description, I thought he got bashed the whole fight. Instead, after watching the fight, I thought he was in it the whole way. Here's the full fight:
