RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 01-23-2016 I hope there's plenty rbrs for tonights bill in Samoa, I'm in Thailand and will be popping into nzboxchat for updates. RE: Heavyweight Division - shamrock - 01-23-2016 2 against one, not fair, guess I gotta take AJs pic off my wall and go sit in u guys tent and talk about Jos hairstyle. Lol not all about fighters, and nobody agrees in politics, but dontcha think Jo's shorts are tooo short.....???? RE: Heavyweight Division - shamrock - 01-23-2016 Oh die, whytes shoulder thing reminds me of Hayes toe against wlad RE: Heavyweight Division - Kiwi - 01-23-2016 The huge thing I see in AJ's favour is his HEIGHT and reach. He is a big man and Parker may struggle with that. So right now I think AJ is the frontrunner between the two. -Kiwi RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 01-23-2016 Not after the Whyte fight! But yeah, AJ's power and size would trouble Parker early on. Sham, Whyte had shoulder surgery after the fight, and will be out a while. But would you care to talk about how AJ's opposition is better than Parker's? RE: Heavyweight Division - shamrock - 01-23-2016 Die, AJs resume is not really what's in discussion here in my book. We can all stand on conjecture about these fighters. Whatever AJ or his promoters or mathmakers do they can get away with it in Britain, as we know they have a few heavyweights there of which AJ is down the pecking order. Here we only have one idol in the heavy scene and that being Jo Parker whom many here including yourself salivate at the name. Fair enough, nothing against that at all, Jo has become the country's idol, deserved or not.... but it isn't about Jo, it's about the hypothetical talk from fans to management about Jo beating the world based on knocking out tomato cans in the 1st rd. It's even said he is a better performer than David Tua. We have another tomato can tonight of which you yourself will stay up late for the KO of some hapless underachiever which helps make up the promoters and matchmakers pay cheque. In fact, we have a boxing prospect and hero in the making but that's for the future and may very well be the case when it's all said and done. But it's not reality right now and our smal country is overdone with it. My intention hasn't been to compare Jo with AJ, you brought that up to get your spoke in earlier. The difference I see between the fighters is AJ knows he isn't ready for the top yet nor for Parker, but Jo and his bundle think they beat everyone and that's a worry. RE: Heavyweight Division - NakiFan - 01-23-2016 There is nothing wrong with confidence Sham, and that is the only feeling I get from any interviews that JP speaks. The management, and to an extent KB are doing the promoting. There is nothing wrong with promoting, but if the fighter starts believing that a fight is won before it's held, things go south real quick. It must be a fine line for Duco and Stu Duncan to tread regarding matchmaking, promoting the next opposition fighter, and aspiring where they believe their fighter is heading. Duco could: * Keep quiet and let fighters come and go slowly working towards a chance to get an eliminator, then start shouting from the rooftops... * Tell the world that JP can beat anyone, anytime, not accept any offers unless there is 7 figures involved and not get a chance to fight anyone apart from low ranked fighters for years to hold a ranking. Let's go Champ, Let's go Champ, Let's go Champ....only if is heaps of cash Champ.... or Slowly work as they did announce at the start of 2015, that they want JP to be ranked amongst all the alphabets, top 5 in one, working towards bigger things in 2016. Yes, they talked themselves up a bit, comparing JPs progress to Joshua's....this is marketing directly to the fanbase of AJs in Britain. Smart, social media stuff which gets people and promoters chatting. I see nothing wrong so far, and there is a BIG unless, April or Julys opponent isn't the recognised top 10 fighter that has been promised. Until then, the chat on here will go round and round. Lets hope we are pleasantly surprised a week or two after Bergman, with a credible opponent. My 2 cents. RE: Heavyweight Division - shamrock - 01-23-2016 Well done nakifan, as you have pointed out there is two sides to everything. Let's hope together we will see the story unfold to satisfaction before the year is out. I personally believe jo is capable of much more, and can't wait for competitive matching to happen. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 01-23-2016 Gotta agree with NakiFan and Sham. Parker has lots of promise, has beaten only journeymen, has practiced his craft with tall guys (Martz) and southpaws (Bergman). OK, ready to rumble in April and July as promised. If it doesn't happen, then it was all talk. If it does, they did what they said they'd do, and we'll see how good Parker is. Sham, I can't wait either.
