It would be really hard to rate from 1-5 the top heavyweights in order due to their styles and how they line up against each other. The five are: JJ, Fury, AJ, Wilder, Usyk.

RE: Heavyweight Division - Infern0 - 04-11-2023

Haven't been on in a while, what is the game Fury is playing?

Usyk is a splendid points boxer at heavyweight but for me he hasn't got anything in his repertoire that should have Fury as spooked as he appears to be.

Worst case scenario for Fury imo is he loses a competetive one on points.

Still would pick Fury all day mind you, I don't think Usyk can hold up to 12 rounds with a guy who fights the way Fury does, he's not an AJ who is gonna fight timid and stand in the middle of the ring confused.

I only see the fight going one way because Usyk can't dance for a solid 12 rounds anymore, he has to take breaks in fights, he took entire rounds off vs AJ. Fury is too smart to be able to do that with, he will jump on you when you need a rest and put all that weight on you and just drain you.

Fury was the guy who signed to fight Wilder when Wilder was stretchering all his opponents and Fury was still only half fit

It doesnt add up to me why he would avoid Usyk, and while I think Usyk will beat Dubois pretty easily, if he fights Hrgovic or Joyce after that, I think there's a very real risk Usyk's 37 year old legs start to catch up to him and he gets taken out.

The time to do this fight is now

Long time, no see.  I missed you.  Are you still at Barker's, or am I confusing you with another great kiwi?

Anyway, gotta agree.  I don't see Usyk troubling Fury.  Maybe making him look silly for a few rounds before Fury grinds him down.  Would be a very boring fight.

Fury has lost his footspeed and he knows it, hence why he has changed his style and sits in the pocket looking to trade more often these days.

Usyk isn't stupid enough to get caught getting lazy inside and Fury won't be allowed to lean all over him as Usyk has superior fitness and is a constant moving target. Fury's party lifestyle has caught up with him, but he is still clearly the number 2 in the division.

The last southpaw Fury also fought was Otto Wallin and he went life and death with him, barely winning. Usyk is miles ahead of Wallin.

RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 04-12-2023

Yeah since Fury changed his style and has aged he much prefers guys who stand infront of him, his days of quick footwork etc have passed and the fatigue that fighting Usyk brings doesn't suit him.
Is he scared probably not but see's easier ways to make a living than Usyk's smoke.
Fury has..or once had the UK public eating out of his hand - this tide seems to be turning and he might find his support to fight lesser talents while claiming the likes of AJ and Usyk , JJ are ducking him waning.

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 04-12-2023

I've watched a lot of Usyk's fights lately, and he has this style of going in and out, always moving side to side. He won't be easy to catch. I was never impressed with him, particularly at cruiser. His opponents were very competitive with him. Against AJ, he's looked his best.
