RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 01-25-2023 Wallin set for tune-up Friday in NH WBO ##3, WBC #9 heavyweight contender Otto Wallin (24-1, 14 KOs) will return to action for his first fight of 2023, as he takes on Helaman Olguin (9-4-1, 4 KOs) in an eight-round fight this Friday from Castleton Banquet & Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire. Wallin, who is promoted by Salita Promotions, will look to stay sharp as he seeks a marquee matchup this year. “I feel great heading into this fight,” said Wallin. “My training has been going great and I’ve done a lot of good sparring leading up to this fight. I’m excited to be fighting in New Hampshire and can’t wait to step into the ring. I can’t overlook Olguin, who is a good fighter, but I don’t think he’s on my level. I know that I can compete and win against any heavyweight in the world, and I’ll make sure that I show why on Friday night.” RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 01-25-2023 https://www.boxingscene.com/anthony-joshua-jermaine-franklin-finalized-april-1-o2-arena-london--172023 Maybe opens the door for JP/Whyte? The door is ajar. RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 01-25-2023 Hope so Franklin could give AJ trouble, his counters are fast and accurate - maybe not a huge puncher but neither is Ruiz who is also a faster couner puncher. I think AJ and Hearn could regret this .... Ref to jump in and stop it if AJ hits him.... Hearn stoppage RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 01-25-2023 By rights, AJ should KO him early if he has any power left. If not, he's in for a long night. The 6’5 southpaw Wallin outboxed the 39-year-old Olguin over the first five rounds. In round six, an Olguin punch caused a small cut over Wallin’s the left eye. Wallin took over again for the last two rounds to win 79-73, 80-72, 80-72. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 02-02-2023 Matchroom inks Justis Huni WBO #14 heavyweight Justis Huni (7-0, 4 KOs) has signed a multi-year promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. The 23-year-old Australian becomes Matchroom’s latest recruit from Down Under. In his most high profile win to date, Huni became the first man to defeat Paul Gallen when he battered the former rugby league star before stopping him in the final round of a PPV clash that attracted worldwide attention in June 2021. “I’m extremely proud to announce I’ve signed with the world’s premier promoter,” said Huni. “Many thanks to Mick and Fran at Tasman Fighters. Let’s get it!” Eddie Hearn added: “I’m delighted to welcome Justis Huni to the Matchroom Boxing team. Justis has already become one of the biggest names in Australian boxing and is ranked in the top 15 but now we look forward to boxing him around the world and leading him to a shot at the world heavyweight title. The signing also continues to strengthen our Australian roster with more additions expected in the coming months, we look forward to our return to this important market in the first half of 2023.” RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 02-03-2023 If he can sort his bustered hands and get matched properly he could do well. Hope he hasn't been signed as an opponent RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 02-03-2023 An opponent for who? I remember you liked him. Me too. He's exciting. Busted hands? And a busted face! |
