RE: Heavyweight Division - justafan - 07-20-2019

Sorry to bang on about this again but... Why don't Sky have a boxing club with options for a combat club also??? Monthly, weekly or annual payments that work out to be say $100 or $150 a year for boxing.
Just like Fight Pass or Box Nation or DAZN.
I buy a lot of ppv's (usually a rash decision at the last minute after saying I won't all week) but $70 for a Sunday is crazy. Without having a good look the undercard for Pace Man v Thurman isn't great from memory is it?
I've never had anything from Sky like "hey we appreciate your loyalty on the ppv's here's one for free or half-price or not even here's a month's sport credited to your account for free as we see you are a regular ppv buyer.
I would have thought the guaranteed money in the bank would help Sky secure more cards? Especially given Spark Sport are now showing an interest in boxing. Or is the interest that small, by the time they spend some $$ marketing it, it wouldn't be worth their while??? Or is it just greed for us dumb suckers who keep paying?

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 07-20-2019

I think it's a great idea. Write SKY and tell them. Truth be told, you didn't get a loyalty card or a thanks because SKY probably thinks they're doing you a favour.

I'd appreciate it if SKY started combining PPV fights, such as what they could do tomorrow. From memory, they did that last year, with 2 $40 cards, or $60 if you got both. Believe Parker was involved in one of them.

Yes Die good idea - Sky TV has some hard times ahead if they don't become more fan friendly. Competition for TV /Streaming rights are becoming more available

If Del boy can't KO Szpilka I think the Poll wins. He's a smart boxer.
Also have Pricey stopping Allen. Good card but not sure I'll be paying $35 for it. If it was $20 I would happily pay

Rivas was officially ahead. Agreed on the Szpilka fight though.

Sorry my memory is shite but I thought I read somewhere that he was ahead on the cards but I'd back you over me. I watched it and thought it was a bit of a hard to score frustrating contest until Rivas got the job done.
I love the card I'm just not sure it's worth $35 in NZ early on a Sunday morning. It's on ppv not pop up Die. I was hoping the same as you!
Yeah you're right. I found it very hard to score to the point where whoever won would have got no complaints from anyone. Rivas obviously stopped it going to the cards in the end haha.

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 07-20-2019

I bought it because it has three heavyweight fights that look pretty good, plus Lawrence Okolie at light heavyweight.  Not sure the Pacman/Thurman card is as good.  Mrs D is going to record it along with the All Blacks at 6AM.  So I'll watch that, zip thru some of the undercards afterwards, and catch all the fights.  I'll get up at 8AM, not 6AM.

Great win for Chisora. Parker v Chisora should be fun

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 07-21-2019

Whyte beats Rivas for WBC interim heavy title

In a clash for the vacant WBC heavyweight title, Dillian Whyte (26-1, 18 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Oscar Rivas (26-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London. Whyte appeared headed to an easy decision, but in round nine Rivas dropped him with an uppercut. Whyte survived Rivas’ follow-up barrage and Rivas was never able to mount another charge. Scores were 115-112, 115-112, 116-111. Whyte is now the WBC mandatory challenger.

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 07-21-2019

Great fights. Yep, Chisora looked awesome, and the Parker/Chisora fight should be a doozy. Price looked good in beating a lame Allen, who never really came to fight.

Great second and ninth round action, where Rivas put Whyte down with an uppercut. Rivas just didn't push the action enough, and let Whyte set too much with his jab. If he kept taking the fight to Whyte, he had a good chance of winning. Whyte is now the mandatory WBC opponent to Wilder. Will be interesting to see what happens...
