RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-13-2017 OCTOBER 12, 2017 Breazeale will face Molina now Heavyweight Dominic Breazeale will take on Eric Molina in a 12-round WBC title elimination match on the undercard of the showdown between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Bermane Stiverne live on SHOWTIME on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Breazeale was originally slated to face Stiverne, but Stiverne got elevated to challenge Wilder after Luis Ortiz failed a drug test. New prices have been set for tickets to see the event live at Barclays Center. The card will also feature former welterweight champion Shawn Porter taking on Adrian Granados and Sergey Lipinets battling Akihiro Kondo for the vacant junior welterweight title in televised bouts. Also, five-time world champion Amanda Serrano of Brooklyn takes on Marilyn Hernandez, Long Island’s Seanie Monaghan (28-1-0, 17 KOs) makes his ring return to face Evert Bravo (23-6-1, 17 KOs), from Arboletes, Colombia, and Brooklyn’s Chris Colbert (6-0, 2 KOs) battles Long Island’s Titus Williams (7-0, 2 KOs) in an eight-round featherweight bout. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-13-2017 Charr-Ustinov collide Nov 25 in Germany WBA #2 rated heavyweight contender Alexander Ustinov and #4 Manuel Charr met for a press conference in Cologne, Germany, today to announce their fight on November 25th at 10,000 seat Koenig-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. Charr will return to action after having hip replacement surgery in May. In his last fight in September 2016, the „Diamond Boy“ dominated previously unbeaten Sefer Seferi to win the WBA International Championship. Ustinov had his last fight in May 2017 in England when he annihilated Brazilian journeyman Raphael Zumbrano Love in one round. “I am very proud of Manuel and his work ethics“, said Charr’s manager Christian Jaeger. “Two years ago he got shot and nearly died, then he had the hip surgery – but he never quits, he always continues fighting and he is even working harder than he has ever worked before. This will be an exciting fight between two of the best heavyweights in the world who have about the same experience. I am sure that it will be a great and exciting fight.“ Ustinov’s promoter Vlad Hrunov added, “This is a very difficult fight for me because Alexander is my fighter but Manuel is my personal hero. I remember him from the time when he started his pro career. At that time I brought Alexander Povetkin to Germany to team Sauerland. One day I heard that Povetkin got knocked out in sparring by a young guy. It was this gentleman over here: Manuel Charr. I followed his career ever since and I am impressed how he fought against all obstacles and always found his way to success. Coming back after all those setbacks and injuries deserves the utmost respect.“ Charr emphasized that despite all medical problems he never stopped believing in himself. “There is only one thing in the world that nobody can take away from you – and that is the power of your mind and your dreams“, stated Charr. “I never stopped dreaming. And I always dream big. Because I know that things will come true if I want them to come true. After I got shot and nearly died I started training in the hospital right the next day. After my hip replacement it was the same. I am very fortunate that I have a manager like Christian Jaeger who supports me. And I am also fortunate to have my special training equipment – the EasyMotionSkin – which allowed me to work out during rehab and get in the best shape of my life.“ Tickets priced between €25 and €500 (ringside) will go on sale shortly. Charr’s manager Jaeger also confirmed that he is close to finalizing a TV deal in Germany with details to be announced within the next days. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-15-2017 Wilder: The best are supposed to fight the best WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder met with the media on Saturday at Barclays Center to discuss his November 4 bout against mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne live on SHOWTIME. “I’m the most frustrated guy around,” said Wilder. “I don’t understand. The best are supposed to fight the best, right? I’ve always done that. I called (Wladimir) Klitschko out years ago. “What other heavyweight is doing what I do? What other heavyweight has power like me? I don’t have to put you out in punches in bunches. I don’t have to do that. One punch. Goodnight. “I’m happy that I’ve had time to calm down and think about things. I’m happy that I’m fighting Stiverne because he’s my mandatory. I can finally get him out the way so I’ll be a free man. “This is the story of my life. Every situation that I’m put in, I try to be optimistic about. It’s easy to appreciate the good. But when the bad comes, some people don’t know how to manage that. “People make so many excuses for my career. The one who is actually trying to make a legacy out of their career, he’s the only one that’s not complaining. The people who don’t have to get in the ring and endure this suffering are the ones that complaining.” RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 10-16-2017 It seems Whyte is fighting Helenius on the Joshua/Pulev undercard, I'm in Bulgaria at the moment and there's pictures of Pulev everywhere. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-16-2017 Are you going to the fight, craig? The Whyte/Helenius could be interesting if Helenius has anything left. Thanx for the info!!! RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-16-2017 Whyte clashes with Helenius October 28 Dillian Whyte will face Robert Helenius for the WBC Silver Heavyweight title at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on October 28. “It’s been a very frustrating few months trying to get someone to fight me,” said Whyte. “I thank Robert for stepping up and in two weeks’ time we will fight for the WBC Silver title in Cardiff. I love to fight and I’m looking forward to being back in the ring, getting the victory and moving on to challenge for the World Heavyweight title.” “This is a huge fight and I’m excited about fighting the winner of last December’s thriller between Whyte and Chisora,” said Helenius. “Chisora and I were scheduled to fight in May but he ran. To my understanding Dillian is not a runner and he will stand and fight. This is a big fight for the Heavyweight division and may the best man win.” Whyte’s clash with Helenius is part of a huge night of action in Wales, topped by Anthony Joshua MBE’s World Heavyweight title defence against Kubrat Pulev. A star-studded cast line-up in support of Joshua’s clash with the Bulgarian, as Kal Yafai defends his WBA Wold Super-Flyweight title against Japanese mandatory challenger Sho Ishida and Irish sensation Katie Taylor challenges for her first World title as she takes on two-weight World champion Anahi Esther Sanchez for the WBA Lightweight crown. Thanx for the info!!! I won't be anywhere near cardiff, ppv for me. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-17-2017 Pulev Out – Takam In For Joshua Clash Matchroom Boxing - October 16, 2017 Leave a Comment Carlos Takam has replaced Kubrat Pulev as the IBF mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on October 28, live on Sky Sports Box Office. Frenchman Takam is rated at number three with the governing body and has been on the hunt for a showdown with the British star, and gets his golden chance at ripping away Joshua’s titles in the Welsh capital after Pulev picked up a shoulder injury in sparring. “I received a call from Kalle Sauerland late afternoon today to inform me that Pulev had injured his shoulder and maybe ruled out of the fight – this was later confirmed by his doctor,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “IBF rules state that the mandatory will go to the next fighter in line which is Carlos Takam. “When the Pulev fight was announced I made a deal with Takam’s team to begin camp and be on standby for this fight. When I called them this evening they were overjoyed and good to go. It’s a difficult position for AJ having prepared meticulously for the style and height of Pulev, he now faces a completely different style and challenge in Takam – this hasn’t happened in his career before but he is ready for all comers on October 28.” Joshua’s clash with Takam is part of a huge night of action in Cardiff where the 2012 London Olympic Gold medal man’s bitter foe Dillian Whyte aims to take a giant step to his first World title shot by facing Robert Helenius for the WBC Silver strap. Kal Yafai defends his WBA Wold Super-Flyweight title against Japanese mandatory challenger Sho Ishida and Irish sensation Katie Taylor challenges for her first World title as she takes on two-weight World champion Anahi Esther Sanchez for the WBA Lightweight crown. There’s a mouth-watering British and Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight battle between Frank Buglioni, Lenroy Thomas and Dave Allen rematch for the Commonwealth Heavyweight title and Team GB Olympian and Welsh talent Joe Cordina appears in his fifth pro outing. A limited number of tickets remain on sale via http://www.StubHub.co.uk. Accessibility, ambulant and wheelchair tickets – please contact the Principality stadium via 02920 822432 – also on sale from midday Tuesday. Official hospitality packages are available to purchase directly from Principality Stadium Experience. Both private suite and premium lounge packages are available to purchase, with prices starting from £450 per person + VAT. For further information please call the team on 02920 822 413. RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 10-17-2017 Hmmmm. Not sure about this fight! Why not fight Whyte again? Much more interesting, Whyte's been training and on the undercard for months, for him they brought in Helenias at 2 weeks notice and now for Joshua they've brought in Takam at less than 2 weeks notice..... RE: Heavyweight Division - Nablonicasso - 10-17-2017 Think Hearn said Takam was in camp as a back up. I like the fight, Takam coming off a couple of KO wins. Durable pressure fighter hopefully comes in good shape and throws more punches than he did against Parker |
