2018 NZBOXCHAT prediction championship. |

Each month fights will be laid out like this :
01/01 Joseph Parker v.s Anthony Joshua
02/01 Deontay Wilder v.s Tyson Fury
Anywhere between 8-15 fights depending on how 'stacked' each month is.
Each poster will put there predictions in like (and only like) this
01/01 Joseph Parker v.s Anthony Joshua - Anthony Joshua KO2
02/01 Deontay Wilder v.s Tyson Fury - Tyson Fury points
Points scoring system : for a correct winner, but not the method of victory you get 2 points.
For the correct result a decision win you get 5 points.
For a correct round, either stoppage or ko you get 10 points
For a ko or stoppage +/- 1 round you get 3 points so if you said from the example Anthony Joshua KO3 or KO1 and it was KO2 then you would receive 3 points.
For predicting a draw (either after 8,10,12 rounds or if its stopped early and is a technical draw) you get 20 points.
If it gets stopped but goes to the judges, it counts as a decision win, so 5 points.
For a decision win you dont have to put split, majority or unanimous.
You only get points if your boxer wins (or if you scored it a draw).
Finally each month you get 1 bonus chance, the fight you are most confident of you write bonus at the end of your prediction e.g
02/01 Deontay Wilder v.s Tyson Fury - Tyson Fury points *bonus
You double your points for a correct result. So for the example above you'd get 10 points.
If a fights cancelled for any reason then its just void.
Any questions?
I'll put January's fights up in the next couple of days, there's no big fights for a couple of weeks so you'll have plenty of time to decide, at the end of every month I'll put everyones results up and a league table.
One last thing, there's no editing on posts, if you want to change a fight prediction then you have to delete the original post and start again, so you won't be able to do this once the first fight of the month has happened.

Would posters be interested in a 2018 fight prediction competition? If we was to do say 10 fights a month, big fights,NZ fights and a few quirky ones. If there's enough interest I'd put the rules and fights for January up in the next day or so.

If Parker and Ortiz (somehow) win, is it good for heavyweight boxing? |

I say yes. No way Wilder or AJ are giving up their trinkets without rematch clauses, so we would see some pretty good heavyweight action in the meantime.
I give both the underdogs a chance. We saw how hard JP had to work to take the "0" off Ruiz. I think Hughie felt the strength and ran
Ortiz might be 52, but the way he schooled Jennings was very impressive, and I've never seen him in trouble.
The 2 "iron chins" vs the 2 ko artists, with apparently suspect chins
Good stuff

Vasyl Lomachenko v Guillermo Rigondeaux for WBO super featherweight belt on Sky pop up channel 57 from 3pm this Sunday 10 December. Should be a great matchup with both of these guys showcasing some serious skills, don't miss it!
It's free. Thanks for the heads up, Nullanulla!

Nik the Greek has taken a short notice fight against unbeaten fellow kiwi (although he lives in Aussie now) Benjamin Kelleher for the Australasian cruiserweight title this Saturday at the Mansfield Tavern NSW. Should be a real interesting fight.

I was looking at Boxrec earlier today at Hasim Rahmans record and his last fight was here in Auckland where he lost to a local fighter Anthony Nansen
I have to be honest Ive never heard of the guy, does anyone here have any recollection of him and why he hasnt fought since that bout?
