No prob guys. I believe in him big time. I have been very busy over last 3 months and I over see his training but I didn't last 3 months so I take allot of the Responsibility. Essentially I work in with Tom Walsh , Jacko gill and val Adams trainer but as junior wanted to spend more time at home to look after his son we missed a bit of over sight . IMO he over trained and did 3 sessions a day. Also having a bit of stress produces cortisole which is essentially the opposite of testosterone . This hormone essentially stores food to fat and make your body use minimum energy and puts all the energy you need to recover on your body as fat for later . Just my theory as juniors eating and habits are pretty solid., the disappointing thing is he ate well and trained too hard but we over cooked it .

As a side note we are fitness/power and strength testing on Saturday and if anyone wants to come down let me know. It will be a 9am at institute of north shore ., my number is 0275686807 if anyone is keen to watch and see junior go for it . We are doing this to have a realistic understanding of where we are.

I had a chat with Mrs Diehard, who has extensive training in martial arts, psychology, and physiology.  Her thoughts were that the type of training routine which would be appropriate for shot-putters (who need rapid, maximum bursts of energy for a very short term) would be totally wrong for a boxer (who needs sustained energy under continual stress over a period of rounds).  And while shot-putters can carry weight as fat stores, that wouldn't work well for boxers.  I agree with Mrs D (always best to do that) and think that reviewing whatever AJ does for fitness and conditioning would be the best routine to copy (posted that routine a few months ago if you want to see it).

don't get me wrong we don't train like a shot putter. we box 5-6 days a week, weights and cardio  2, conditioning and rotation power 3 times. sunday off. Dr Angus ross is the world leader in eccentric training and rotatational force production. the conditioning and rotational power training is very similar to AJ. in fact its more advanced. we just over did it. he has a world class guy just doesn't mean we get it right the whole time and mised  some details.
The three examples you gave me were all shot-putters, so it must have made an impression.  I can only go by what Fa looked like against Sam, and how he looked in the past.  He's not doing something right, and it's not just the past 3 months.  I go by results.  Fa's muscles are not there for as big as he is.  He should be ripped.  I know that boxing is not body-building, but Tua didn't have a body-building body either in his prime, and he had massive power.

I honestly don't think the problem is that he over-trained, as his body hasn't changed much in the last year.  Yes, it may have been a factor against Sam.

Truthfully, Fa's biggest asset is his size.  He should have walked through Sam with a stiff jab and a right cross.  Shouldn't have lasted more than a couple of rounds.  I spoke to Sam's team, and even they were surprised at Fa's showing.  They said something wasn't right with Fa, as Sam hadn't trained much at all the final two months, limited sparring and conditioning.  And he's lost his last 7 fights, all in OZ.  If Fa can't walk through him...

Fa is a blank canvas.  He has size, but limited boxing skills, average power.  I do think he can develop into something awesome, but he has to develop heaps more power and boxing skills.  Even Schuster was upset with him between rounds.  I really, really want Fa to do well, as well as Parker.  But he's just not developing well.  My guess is that he (or his team) are not being held accountable for the results that are needed to get him to the next level.

Here's a routine that I found for AJ:  https://www.joe.co.uk/fitness-health/this-is-how-anthony-joshuas-training-turned-him-into-a-beast-51314

Thanks markk for coming on and telling us how everything is going. I won't lie and admit that I was disappointed in his last outing but hopefully we see improvements in his next fights. Good luck with everything and great to see someone taking criticism onboard unlike Stu Duncan has in the past on here.
yeah we will. he just couldn't pull the trigger on night. the over training and cortisol is what we think . we are looking under every stone to make sure we are right. couldn't agree more about being ripped die. we on the same page there. i think junior ghouls weight around 115kg
Chin up, markk. He's undefeated, huge, and knows how to fight. Now I need to see him continually improve every sparring session with better and better sparring partners. And his body show some results each week/month.

It's not rocket science with eating the right foods. Make sure he's not cheating on his diet. We all have our weaknesses. He might not want to let his team down, and secretly eats what he shouldn't.

Know that I, and the rest of you, wish you and Junior all the bestest!!!
Any hints on the next opponent?I noticed that Junior said that he'll have another fight in NZ before going back to the states after the Hunter Sam fight.
I think we'd all like to see Fa look like AJ. But I think ultimately Fa is a big rangy guy and probably should be training to exploit that. I see Fa , at his best being an outside fighter who could use feigning and simply combos when attacking and also have good countering abilities. I'm not sure whether we want him training to be a ko artist like AJ because the stamina doesn't seem to be there if it doesn't come off, and an embarrassing loss could eventuate. AJ gets away with it due to freakish power and being a fine student who implements the plan and thinks in there. He also has freakish recuperative abilities. It's certainly disappointing on the Fa issue though. After watching some earlier KOs of his, especially the body KOs, I had envisioned Fa getting some KO reels going and establishing a name for himself as a big young monstrous puncher, not an abc boxer. I wonder if they sit down with him and just watch videos of heavyweights instead of pumping iron day in day out. Foreman, ali, mayweather even, klitschko, haye etc etc. And study what they do and try to understand what elite level is all about. Take a thing or two that klitschko did in his prime, like those fake head ducks that he turns into a leading left hook. Or the feign to the body and then a ripping right cross to the head that Haye does. Study AJs iconic uppercut of klitschko and how exactly that was applied. Then go in there and try them out. Try them out against these cab drivers until it's perfected. You can say all you like about getting rounds in and building a resume. But once it's time for the do or die, career defining fight; I'm not sure 5yrs of jabbing and the odd body dig is going to hold him in good steed. It's going to be that trick or two you learned rotely that will be the deciding factor
