Heavyweight knockout artist Luis Ortiz and top contender Bryant Jennings will meet in a toss-up fight Dec. 19 in the main event of a "Boxing After Dark" card at the Turning Stone Casino Resort in Verona, New York.

Is Bryant Jennings going to stop "the real king-kong"? or is Ortiz going to keep his unbeaten streak going all the way to a title fight?

Cool
Jennings by UD. Ortiz is over-rated.
This is tricky. Jennings will try to win by out-boxing Ortiz, but the last time Ortiz fought someone quick and skilled, and about Jennings size, he outboxed Kayodee with skill before he knocked him out. He was such an imposing beast he scared the then undefeated Kayodee back to Cruiser.
He has a 343-19 amateur record, so he knows how to box.
He was on steroids though.

Jennings has never been KO'd but Tupou did drop him, then Jennings recovered well and finished him.
He also snuck a win against another top Cuban southpaw in Perez, so it's not like it will be all new to him.

Ortiz to start strong, knock down Jennings once and win by narrow decision 115-113 with Jennings coming back in the later rounds

Good fight
I think it'll be close, but I'm picking Ortiz with a punchers chance.

Ortiz to KO Jennings in the late rounds.
Stu's take on Ortiz - Jennings
"On Ortiz vs Jennings - I feel Jennings is a better more sound technical boxer mover & in saying that - makes better use of the ring space & his punch output / work rate is better than Ortiz & I think Jennings will win on points .. Ortiz can bang & it is the heavyweight division - one punch can change everything - but Im confident Jennings will get across the line in this one ..... cheers"
I like this match up and I feel reasonably confident tipping Ortiz in this one.

Jennings has never really impressed me a great deal, I feel his awkward style and reach has made him difficult to beat but it wont work on Ortiz.

Ortiz has the same massive reach 84" as Jennings but he has a piston Jab, great defensive technique and real KO power.
Jennings only chance is to set a pace too great for Ortiz to handle and try to tire him out (these Cuban heavy's do seem troubled by work rate).
I think Jennings will get tagged early and shell up a bit, might come on late but it wont be enough to win.
Picking Ortiz in the 7th. Though its gona be a close & interesting match up. I love his feigns, combos & in and out movement. Plus his power will be a threat all bout long. Still could go either way.
Picking a late stoppage win for Jennings. Ortiz will be gassed after trying to hard in the first few rounds
Ortiz vs Jennings eh? Ortiz seems to be the more naturally talented boxer, with a better jab, good hand speed, tricky southpaw style and power to boot. Also has a great amateur background which surely counts for something against Jennings relatively light boxing background.

On the other hand, Jennings seems to have unbelievably long arms for his size (tho it seems their reach is the same) and is probably fitter and went 12 with Kiltschko. And it's not like he doesn't have good punches himself, but I personally rate Ortiz a bit better all round.

If I was judging on boxing acumen alone I would have to say Ortiz...

But then there's the intangibles. Home town advantage to Jennings and also, is Ortiz a different beast without steroids? If it goes to decision I'm sure the fix is in.

This is a tricky one alright, I was gonna type 6th round KO win to Ortiz, but I really have no faith in that. Instead I'm gonna say Jennings by UD.
Im picking Ortiz to Win. Jennings will spend most of the fight Running but when Ortiz catches him it will be all over. Ortiz by KO.
