Horn Angered By Pacquiao, Vows That He Will Never Reach Khan!

Australian boxer Jeff Horn hopes Manny Pacquiao maintains his cocky attitude toward their July 2 world title fight in Brisbane.
Horn's WBO welterweight title shot at the legendary Pacquiao has finally been locked in for Suncorp Stadium after months of on-again, off-again talks.
Filipino veteran Pacquiao's camp were initially reluctant to fight Horn, preferring to set up a mega-dollar deal with former champion Amir Khan in the Middle East which fell through.

The reigning WBO champ's camp said they now wanted to use the Horn bout as a quick kill to "say hi to the Australian fans and media" before heading off and preparing for another shot at Khan.
The undefeated Horn, a 29-year-old former schoolteacher, encouraged eight-time champ Pacquiao to take him lightly.
"Pacquiao and his managers sound a bit confident and cocky," London Olympian Horn said on Sunday.
"It's like 'we will just take this fight, come to Brisbane, knock over Jeff Horn, make their millions and go do the Khan fight. I hope he keeps feeling that way."
Horn (16-0-1 record, 11 knockouts) said he never gave up hope on the dream fight and kept training despite the initial Khan announcement.
"It has been frustrating but I knew how big this fight would be if we actually landed it," Horn said.
"So I had to be patient, keep training and battling along so I could get that potential shot. The Middle East fight (against Khan) was heartbreaking at the time (it was mooted) but now it is finally here I am so excited."
Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 knockouts) is an eight-division world champion but is now 38 and divides his time as a Filipino senator.
He won his most recent fight against Jessie Vargas last November.
Horn said he may be little known but believed the Pacquiao fight would let him make a name for himself.
"Amir Khan is a big name even though he has been knocked out so many times," Horn said. "But this is my chance to make a name for myself."
July's fight is expected to pack the 52,500 capacity Suncorp Stadium and be seen on TV by 150 countries.
"Usually I am pretty good in front of crowds but this might be a bit different, I might have to see a packed Suncorp Stadium to believe it," Horn said.
"It's more than a dream come true. I never thought Pacquiao would still be around when I got my world title shot.
"He is getting a bit older, I am still young. I am ready to take this shot and I am ready to take it off Pacquiao."
The world title fight was secured by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland in partnership with the Brisbane City Council and Suncorp Stadium.

Arum: Horn’s chances improved against Manny
By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum says that Jeff Horn’s chances of dethroning WBO welterweight world champion Manny Pacquiao at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia on July 2 have improved. “I watched Horn’s last fight ringside in New Zealand and he’s a very capable young man,” Arum told The Sunday Mail from his home in Las Vegas. “If his fight with Pacquiao was in Vegas or Madison Square Garden in New York I wouldn’t give him much of a chance because I think nerves would take over against a fighter like Manny.

“But the fact Jeff is going to be fighting in front of so many of his countrymen will calm his nerves and I think he will give a great account of himself. I’ve been in this business 51 years and I have presided over some tremendous upsets. Manny is a big favorite but in boxing, anything can happen and I have seen a lot of big upsets in my time.

“The July 2 fight is a huge event,” Arum added, “and I’m so glad that after a long time of negotiations it is coming to Brisbane and the huge stadium you have there.

“Fights like this are what makes the sport so exciting for me after 51 years in boxing. Australia is a great sporting country and to do an event like this for more than 50,000 people in Brisbane is really memorable.”

WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has arrived in Brisbane, Australia on Monday for a series of press conferences throughout the country ahead of his July 2 defense of the world championship against WBO #2 Jeff Horn at the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, which is expected to become a record live gate of 55,000 fight fans. Grantlee Kieza of the Courier Mail was at Brisbane airport where Pacman commented on the event.

“My message for him is to work hard,” Pacquiao said. “Make sure you are in 100 per cent condition on July 2 so we can give a good fight and entertain the people. I am motivated and here to do my best.”

Even though Pacquiao has stipulated a rematch clause in the contract, he wouldn’t comment on any follow-up fight. “We’re not talking about the rematch,” he said. “Our concern right now is how to entertain the people. I know a lot of people will watch this fight.”

Horn and Pacquiao will come face to face on Wednesday at a press conference at Suncorp Stadium

It's going to be a massive event.

Horn steps up training

WBO #2 Jeff Horn (16-0-1, 11 KOs) will be sparring with WBA #4 light-welterweight Czar Amonsot (34-3-3, 22 KOs) this week to step up preparation for his July 2 WBO welterweight challenge against Manny Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Australia Grantlee Kieza of the Courier Mail has reported.

Horn’s team is also negotiating with Kostya Tszyu’s old rival, former world champ Zab Judah from New York, to be another sparring partner after Olympic great Vasyl Lomachenko finally rejected an offer to visit Brisbane.

“I think Czar will be great sparring for Jeff,” Horn’s trainer Glenn Rushton said. “He’s been undefeated for years and is a former Pacquiao sparring partner. He’s tough and aggressive and fight fit!”
Im still shocked this fight got made and is going to happen. Surely Horn is no chance of beating Manny, is there any way you guys see Jeff getting the W here?
He does have a chance. Depends on whether or not Horn can handle the big stage and not panic, and whether Pacman has "lost it." My guess is that Pacman still has enough. But Horn IS in with a chance.
