FULL FIGHT

Thanks NakiFan.  Horn really beat him up.  With Kell Brook stepping up in weight, who would Horn fight for the title?
Spence would stop Horn in under 6 rounds. Kid's a beast.
Returning superstar Manny Pacquiao scored a high-energy, highly impressive win last night in Las Vegas, proving once again he is an absolute force to be reckoned with at welterweight. Pac-Man – who came close to shutting out a game Jessie Vargas over 12 action rounds that seemed to whizz by – may or may not have regained his position atop the 147-pound rankings.

Arguably (and not too many people are arguing against it) the best, most exciting and most talent-rich division in boxing right now, the welterweight division is crammed full of stars, exciting fighters and potentially thrilling match-ups.

But who are the ten best welterweights in the world right now?

Here’s an attempt to break it down:

1: Manny Pacquiao, 59-6-2 – WBO champ

2: Keith Thurman, 27-0 – WBA champ

3: Kell Brook, 36-1 – IBF champ

4: Tim Bradley, 33-2-1

5: Shawn Porter, 26-2-1

6: Danny Garcia, 32-0 – WBC champ

7: Errol Spence Jnr, 21-0

8: Jessie Vargas, 27-2

9: Frankie Gomez, 21-0

10: Felix Diaz, 18-1(8)

Either way you list this bunch, it’s impossible to disagree that the talent is quite incredible – as are the potential/possible match-ups. Imagine: Pacquiao-Thurman! Porter-Bradley! Spence-Brook! Pacquiao-Garcia! Thurman-Bradley!

It’s easy to see there are some great welterweight nights and fights to come, even if just one or two of these dream fights get made.

What we can look forward to, a hundred-percent, is Thurman-Garcia, set for March, and at least one more Pacquiao fight. Who this will be against has already inspired much debate. But for now, Pac-Man is back where he once was – at the top of the welterweight pile. At age 37 (38 next month) that is some achievement.
WBO #2 Horn targets Pacquiao in 2017

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

WBO #2 welterweight Jeff Horn (15-0-1, 10 KOs) could set-up a WBO title shot against world champion Manny Pacquiao in 2017 if he defeats WBO #8 Ali Funeka (39-5-3, 31 KOs) at the Vector Arena, Auckland, New Zealand on December 10 in an undercard fight to the vacant WBO heavyweight championship bout featuring WBO #1 Joseph Parker against WBO #3 Andy Ruiz. Horn was impressive in his most recent contest in October when he performed a boxing clinic against Rico Mueller stopping the game and durable German in nine rounds. Funeka stopped Justice Addy in three rounds in July and challenged for the IBF 135 pound title in 2009 losing a close decision to Nate Campbell and a draw against Joan Guzman.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum will be sitting ringside on December 10 with Duco Events promoters Dean Lonergan and David Higgins and if Jeff Horn is impressive against Ali Funeka the former London Olympian could be considered as a challenger for Manny Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title in 2017. “Jeff Horn is a really good fighter,” said Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum. “Horn belongs in the top echelon of the division. He has to perform well on December 10 and I can then evaluate him based on the other welterweights.”
Pacquiao vs. Horn in 2017?
By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum said he was impressed with WBO #2 Jeff Horn’s stoppage victory over Ali Funeka on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand and thinks the Aussie schoolteacher will appeal to American audiences with a bout against Jesse Vargas or Timothy Bradley in March. And if Horn is successful, a showdown against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao late in 2017 could be the Filipino boxing legend’s final contest.

“He’s a throwback fighter and he’ll have tremendous appeal with boxing fans in the States,” Arum said. “He fought a real tough awkward guy and he looked really tremendous. The truth is that back in the States where a Pacquiao fight will have to happen, Jeff Horn is not well known. Only boxing people know him. That fight (Vargas or Bradley) I would like to see happen in the first three months of the year so that if Horn is successful, we can build for a fight with Pacquiao late in the year, because Manny told me he was fighting twice in 2017 and then he will hang up his gloves.”

Horn has a decent chance vs Jessie Vargas, but I doubt he comes out on top vs Bradley, so by extension I think Pacquiao beats him up as well, despite him being pretty old now.
If horn fights Spence or Pacquiao they better have the oxygen on standby. I'll just leave it at that.
