Any ideas who will be next after Haumono ?
No, but reading between the lines, that was a tough fight with Takam, and they wanted Parker to have a much easier fight with Haumono. My guess, with it being in Invercargill, it will be at Haumono's level.
Big and tough....

I'll do some digging amongst the top 15 of the alphabets to see who fits this description. ..

I have striked off those who I believe wouldn't even consider a fight in NZ or be willing to travel or look at Parker due to their own position within rankings or existing fights being lined up. So based on Parker sticking with only top 15 fighters in alphabets (which I believe they are targeting to hold his current position and lift others) the list is relatively small...

Would they target WBC and WBA ranked fighters to give him more options with lifting his rank? Would they stick with only IBF and WBO? Or will it be a just out of ranking fighter to give him more rounds....? So based on "Top 15 only" the following are possible candidates..

Andy Ruiz (http://boxrec.com/boxer/489762)- Ranked #5 IBF, #5 WBO, #7 WBC- A Big guy, thanks to his poor shape, but not sure if they would risk JP, or Ruiz would consider travelling.

Johan Duhaupas (http://boxrec.com/boxer/238766)- Ranked #4 IBF, #4 WBC- Tough guy, showed he can take a punch (Wilder) and deliver a KO (Helenius) winning the WBC Silver title. Willing to travel, and has fought in 10 different countries since debut. Dangerous, but not too dangerous. Would NZ be his 11th different fight destination? At aged 31 he is getting on, and a win over JP would give him a title shot chance. Possible opponent.

Vyacheslav Glazkov (http://boxrec.com/boxer/496178)- Ranked #7 IBF, Very slim chance coming back from injury. Shown he would travel, but doubt that he would target JP for a comeback fight.

Eric Molina (http://boxrec.com/boxer/387871)- Ranked #8 IBF, #12 WBC- Big(ish) guy, limited but shown recently he has the tools to do rounds and KO (Adamek) after his Wilder loss. Travelled to Poland to fight Adamek, and hold a IBF intercontinental belt. A #1 Mandatory chance might get him travelling again. Possible opponent.

Michael Wallisch
(http://boxrec.com/boxer/531663)- Ranked #7 WBO- Rank unknown, fought nobody, never fought outside Germany, but 6ft 5 fits a big guy target. Undefeated. A ranked fighter without the danger....maybe?

Charles Martin (http://boxrec.com/boxer/631078)- Ranked #10 IBF- A big guy, a rank outsider to fight JP. He is probably happy with his millions and wouldn't want to travel to Invercargill ! But a #1 Mandatory lure could bring in anyone....

David Price- (http://boxrec.com/boxer/483755)- Ranked #12 IBF- A big guy, but the fight would be in the UK if it was to happen. They could do a Sunday morning fight hitting the Sat night PPV market, but I don't see this happening...

Jarrell Miller- (http://boxrec.com/boxer/498837)- Ranked #14 IBF, #11 WBO. Has a fight scheduled in late Aug according to Boxrec, but could be a chance as he has been calling out opponents lately. Dangerous though, as he does have hitting power. Kind of like Whyte, raw but with power.

Bermane Stiverne (http://boxrec.com/boxer/324806)- Ranked #15 IBF, #2 WBC. Not sure he would like to give up the WBC ranking for a shot at a IBF ranking? Been sparring lately with JP I've heard so he would be a rank outside chance...

Edmund Gerber (http://boxrec.com/boxer/426451)- Ranked #8 WBO- Losses to Michael Sprott and Chisora. Last opponent Brian Minto March 2016, Prior was Sanchez who Izu KOéd in easy fashion. 6ft 2, has travelled and a possible opponent without serious risk for JP. A ranking holder.

Malik Scott  (http://boxrec.com/boxer/35680)- Ranked #9 WBO, #10 WBC- Technical fighter without serious KO power. Brings in US viewers. Doubtful but maybe willing to travel for a #1 Mandatory shot?

Artur Szpilka (http://boxrec.com/boxer/473857)- Ranked #13 WBO, #11 WBC- Like Glazkov, probably wouldn't want to have a comeback fight against JP. Never know though, as the lure of a title shot again might sway a trip to the bottom of NZ...

Bryant Jennings (http://boxrec.com/boxer/529630)- Ranked #9 WBC- With back to back losses I would say Jennigns would look to regroup for another shot...but he could just use a JP fight to leap past the pack if he wins....

Gerald Washington (http://boxrec.com/boxer/621653)- #15 WBC- Big guy at 6ft 6. Looking to make his mark and there was talks that he may fight AJ or Wilder. Might travel, who knows...he is undefeated and ranked...

Antonio Tarver (http://boxrec.com/boxer/14043)- #8 WBA, Historic rankiing as he hasn't fought anyone since August last year. Doubtful and 47 years old.

ANDREY FEDOSOV  (http://boxrec.com/boxer/219370)- #WBA- His name was talked about on this forum a few times for a JP opponent...has a fight scheduled on the 11th this month against a random (Mario Heredia). Has fought and lost against Jennings, but nobody else of note on his resume. Maybe?

Trevor Bryan (http://boxrec.com/boxer/584916)- WBA # 13- Only notable win recently on resume was over Rossy. Undefeated American, 6ft 4. A ranking holder fight if JP took it.

So I'm no closer to having a clue who it will be that is being looked at...BUT it must be hard for Mr Duncan to sell another fight in NZ...

I'm keen to hear everyone elses thoughts

Parker seems to be ranked quite high in all the alphabets bar the WBA, but theres the tournament happening now with that. Actually Parker is rated 1 with the WBO and wonder when there is a fight to determine the mandatory there? Funny enough Parker is rated 1, Klitschko 2 who would drop out if he lost. Maybe...Then 3 is TAKAM. In the WBC Parker is rated 6 so if there was a fill in in Sept that would also benefit his rankings, the viable options would be Stiverne or Duhaupas. Both which I see as next to never happening. If it is as they say to get him ready for a tall strong guy like joshuas size then maybe Gerald Washington 6′ 6″ (boxrec 26), Trevor Bryan 6'4 (boxrec no27)
Manuel Charr 6'3 1/2 boxrec 33
Maybe even Robert Helenius...
All winnable fights. If thats too high a standard then youd be looking at Dimitrenko, Pianeta...

Molina is a possibility and seems fearless - Duhaupas would meliorate Parker's position with WBC - but just cant see Duco taking that - too risky. Would almost be another Takam level fight. Hard to say. Prepare to be dissapointed!
Thanks Naki, great analysis. Of those I'd love to see Duhaphus or Molina as both would be competitive but still very winnable, at least JP would take some learnings from them. However, being in Invercargill, with so much risk and so little reward, and with NZ's bad currency and lowish budgets, I'd guess it will more likely be som, eone on Haumono's level who won't cost much.

Also, I get the feeling with Lonergan that if it were a ranked fighter he would have told everyone so already.

Other guys could be:
- Mariusz Wach (6''7 with a decent record, also Duco has been speaking to Polish fighters about Izu so will probably have made contact in the past)
- Lucas Browne (looking for a comeback fight in September and has a lot less bargaining power than before)
i think one positive for us fans is that after the lacklustre takam performance more guys would fancy themselves vs parker rather than avoid an unknown young ko artist which he was beforehand. so more likely a decent guy will put his hand up
I reckon someone closer to home with no world ranking.
Hoping for a top 20 opponent, but expecting a top 100 - with excuses of course.
