I don't KNOW he's not in the stable as I'm not personally involved, but everything I've read suggests he's not. The article below for example suggests it's all KB - http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/10606481/Boxer-Izuagbe-Ugonoh-wants-Pole-position
That was over a year ago. I just can't believe that he's training on a daily basis with Parker, is on all the undercards, and goes to Klit's training camp in Florida, and he's footing the bill himself. Gotta be Duco paying his expenses. But, I don't believe he's making much $$$ as he's fighting nobodies, or old journeymen on the undercard. Duco only benefits from him as a training partner. And Izu benefits by having assess to Parker, KB, and getting matched.
Veritas, I hear ya, just disagree.  Can't believe you agreed with Sham against me.  Me and Sham are bitter rivals.  Tell him Sham.  Anyway, there's no way Parker will leave KB.  He keeps waxing lyrical about how much KB taught him, and how it showed in the Klit sparring.  Johnathon Banks, Klits trainer, said how Parker was up there with Wilder and AJ.

I think Parker is progressing along nicely, but has a ways to go.  Why would you put him in with former contenders like Leapai and Meehan?  So he can be taught a lesson or two.  Parker is not ready for them.  He needs to continue fighting the Williams, Minto's, and Saglam's of the world.  You mentioned that Tua was 23 when he fought Ruiz, same as Parker.  Well, that may be true, but Tua had about 23 fights by then, Parker only 14.  Parker needs time, he's not ready for the elite.

I do know that several trainers in NZ have questioned KB's skills on this website.  It's hard to base it on Tua, as Tua never listened to his corner (KB) and usually came in vastly overweight in training post Lou Duva.

No way we should compare Parker to Tua.  Not until he fights guys on the level of Ike, Byrd, and LL.  Have a look at Tua's 23 fights before Ruiz.  Who do you recognise?

Another big difference though, is that David's handlers weren't trying to sell his first 15 fights as PPV, which sets different expectations in quality of matchups.

If I recall correctly, the first of Tuas fights I even saw (on regular NZ TV) was his 17th fight, against Cecil Coffee... Can anyone else recall if the earlier US fights were even televised in NZ?

oh cranky, sham get offended when we talk about the past lol

sham even offered his fire place that isn't  burning just like his intimacy  life hahahaha
The past? Sham get offended by the present too... Wink
Cecil Coffee was the first time I saw Tua, and right after I shifted to NZ. I was sold. Guess what I'm saying is that Tua was developing his mojo then, until he met Ruiz and it all came together. KB and Tua flew under the radar, eating out at Burger King and staying in flea bag hotels in the US. As you say, cranky, very different story with Parker. Bright lights, nice digs, new car, the next Ali...

Veritas seems to be taking digs at KB. Deserved? I don't know. KB was saying all the BASIC right things during the fight. Jab, keep your distance, go to the body, move your head, etc. I could be saying the same things, and as you know from this website, I know nothing. As long as Parker keeps winning, KB will be around. Let him lose big a time or two, and things may change. Oh, and if there are suggestions of Martin Peewww entering Team Parker and talking investments.

Curiously, wonder what Tua thinks of Parker working with KB? I'll see Tua in Opunake next weekend, and if I get a chance, I'll ask him.
David Tua respects the fact JP is working with KB, and I don't believe Dave would ever knock KB's coaching style. He know's its good for JP and he's coming along nicely. Just need Duco to shut up and stop building him up to be Superman!!

JP is a completely different fighter than David.... David had natural power and an excellent boxing brain with a tonne of amateur experience, he lived boxing from a very young age.

JP has power, speed and is still learning the basics... KB knows he has a long way to go and is still a rough diamond. Head movement and hands up when throwing punches in still part of the learning process.

He can't fight a top 10 guy with those fundamental flaws at this stage... that's why I wish Duco would shut up promoting him as a title contender in the next year or so... its absolute bollox and they know it!!!

But on a positive note, I do believe JP is good enough to be a contender in 3 or so years, especially under the guidance of KB.

Well spoken Danny and total agreement from this Tall Poppy lol
That's my argument, Dannyboy. Parker isn't ready for the top 10 unless it's guys that are there that shouldn't be, or Parker's style suits them. Fighting a Meehan or Leapai and getting ko'd doesn't advance his fundamentals or abilities, it makes him doubt himself.

3-4 years??? He needs to get his fundamentals right in the next year, fighting 4 more times, and then look at who he can challenge in the top 5. It's not time that's the issue. It's doing what he needs to do to get ready to compete with the elite.

Surely people in the know know that Duco is just trying to sell tickets with all the hype about his being the next so and so.
