If Parker keeps on winning, even against b and c grade opponents he'll get a title shot.

THe odds went against Takam when the French lost the purse bid. But that's the way the cookie crumbles, may have been a little different if fight was done in France don't you think.

It may have been a bit different if Takam threw more punches, if you put that fight anywhere on the planet Takam still loses
Congratulations Joseph Parker! That was epic.

A resourceful win against a top table heavyweight that validates all the buzz around him.

JP went to the well on Saturday night - the inner well.
A place where you come face to face with reality - as it crystallizes the outcome of a 1000 hours training.
Joseph's resolve was tested more than once but he stuck to the task and in the end resorted to boxing to endure the Takam assault.

Joseph won the fight.  Fair and square.  I went Takam in 8!

We are now very much at the point astutely noted by NakiFan when he said; ' I would suggest the level of Takam falls within the "more appropriate opponents" group where JP needs to fight.  The only thing concerning people is that this fight propels him into a title shot.'  - Indeed it does and will he be ready?

This fight profiled Parker to a global audience and laid bare his strengths and weaknesses for all to see.
I'm not surprised Dillan Whyte has raised his hand and I fully expect AJ, after seeing the fight would also relish the prospect...
This - in the face of Duco motormouth stating Parker would now explode the myth that is AJ.  Where is the myth in an Olympic Gold Medal and a World Heavyweight title?  Be careful what you wish for Duco.  You have shown your hand - and it wasn't strong.  Truth is, I think we have just seen the Parker myth exposed.

Yes, Joseph will improve big-time through this experience and he absolutely needs to!

Still too high headed and low handed.  Too easy to hit - develop a more defensive posture/stance. Poor composure, flaying arms when under attack.
Still an apprentice on many skill fronts and not the level I would consider for Heavyweight Champ.  But, I do believe that with the right guidance, with his passion and work ethic, he can get there.

Joseph is not ready for AJ.  JP must master the craft to beat AJ.

Parker moves up to #9 on BoxRec.

Despite all the negativity about Duco, you have to hand it to them. They got the fight in NZ by outbidding and out-smarting Team Takam, giving Parker an advantage in the biggest fight of his career. I think it made a huge difference. Also, paving the way for Parker to train with KB, paying expenses, and developing Parker is huge.

I have no problem with Parker facing second tier fighters like Hammer, Arreola, Cunningham, etc. That's better opposition than he fought before Takam. He does need to preserve his mandatory status.

This is the third stage of his development. First stage is fighting the journeymen to get to Takam. The second stage is fighting who he needed to to get to where he is now. The third stage is the waiting game, fighting to stay busy against good opposition until he gets his shot.
parker has a long way to go before he walks in Tuas shoes, Parker will not win the title under KB.. its just a repeat of Tua's career all over again..is that harsh?

Sure James, that particular fight has Jo the winner. Could the fight have been different if was in Takam's hometown where Takam had all the bells and whistles and the promotion held in his honor and rise to fame in the fistic world.. JP would have been the odd man out, not speaking French and up against the poster boy. Would Jo have excelled in that scenario as he obviously did here. There are obvious reasons why duco wanted the fight here, and good on them. The fight was closer in reality than 116-112 suggests.

Whatever James. Only myself and Die have posted scorecards, take a look; both of us have very close rounds that could have gone either way. Your a fanboy so its understandable your going to side with Parker. So go copy our cards and change a round here or there and you get a Parker win but don't make out like it was a dominant victory. Like Sham said the fight could have gone the other way if held in another location with Takams promoters in charge and paying everyone involved.

I remember you hiding when I offered you 3 to 1 on odds on Chisora to beat Pulev in a fight you said for a fact Chisora would win, then disappearing for the week following his defeat. You like to talk but hide when put on the spot. Your cred is laughable.

The best things from this fight are the experience Parker will have gain against a credible opponent and the fact that his fanboys now realize he is far from what they thought. Many of his fans were delusional coming into this fight, saying he would beat this guy and that and I'm happy that this fight outlined many things Parker needs to work on and brought his fans back to reality.
