Bryant was a very strong amateur
He sure was and his record is better than it looks on paper as a pro too
I was working in Sydney about 5 years ago and I saw there a boxing show in Randwick, I thought I'd go, only a couple of pro fights mostly amateur but Jody Allen happened to be on the bill. He was fighting a debutant named Justin Kallu, who had massive support. All his fans probably half the attendance were wearing t-shirts with his name on it (and some religious stuff). Anyway long story short he was outboxing Allen when Jody knocked him out. Big surprise, I watched the remainder of the show then caught the bus back to city, Jody Allen actually jumped on the same packed bus and stood next to me. We had a good chat, nice bloke. Anyway I retold this story when I used to post on boxrec and rubbed it in a bit to all the Aussies on the Aussie and pacific forum. Nek minet Justin Kallu is on there offering me out, asking if I wanted to come down the gym and jump in the ring with him, haha. I ended having a series of private messages with him and within a week it had calmed down, I hoped he'd do well after that but after a win his career kind of fizzled out. Shame he came across very well, considering....
Thanks for the line-up Justafan, and for the great story, Craig. I'll be at the fight tonite in Opunake, and will bring the boyz, and women into the ring with the help of the ring girls. Me and Lt Dan, the best in the biz. Be great to catch up with him.

Yep, this is James' toughest fight to date. Both guys can bang. Great nite of boxing ahead. I cut my vacation trip to Surfers Paradise to help Team Langton. It'll be well worth it!
I look forward to the report.
Die, Will you be providing round by round updates ?
Grants a top bloke, always wants to talk boxing. Good luck to his lad Mose tomorrow.

DEFINITELY agree with you Craigyid14. I have known Grant for a number of years and he is one of our most under rated coaches in boxing. He would be one of the most knowledgeable guys around on NZ boxing and the fighters. Looking forward to the title bout tonight it will be a good one.
Langton loses by UD. Just got outboxed, as Bryant had a lot of success going to the body, and hurt James in the second round going to the body. Both guys took some big shots, and both were plenty tough. James hurt Bryant in the second, and again in the later rounds with some of the exchanges. It was a really exciting fight. Really gutted for James, but I thought he fought a really good fight, and almost had him out of there, but Lance recovered.

Rapira won by 4th round KO. Just too good. Weirdly, after Sam's second knockdown of Turner, the corner through in the towel as Turner was getting back up. Turner then rallied and went after Sam. The ref saw the towel, and kicked it outta the ring. Never seen that happen before! However, the corner proved correct, as Rapira knocked him down a third time twenty seconds later, and the fight was stopped.

Great night of boxing. Sold out!
