Not sure if its the truth or rumour but was told this before Christmas.
I like Cairo and get that he feels he's ready to move on but unless he's flown overseas to lose who else will be interested in him internationally.
He if really wants to make it he needs to fight the best here first otherwise his international career will be short lived.
I think him and his father do a great job but they are hardly getting the crowds to afford to be bringing decent overseas opponents to New Zealand are they? They would need significant backing and sponsorship I would have thought... if they have that good luck to them but if he really wants the country to get behind him fight the best here first.
He's just had a year out mate....
Understand that and nobody can blame him for taking a couple of easy kills to come back but in the back in end of 2016 I believe he really needs to take fights like Taylor and Morgan if they are challenging. The reason I say that is he hasn't got the exposure or the momentum right now to head off to the world stage and to be quite honest have we seen him beat anyone to suggest he is good enough to do so.
Apart from in the Corromandel and in the hardcore boxing followers nobody knows who he is.
Please don't take this as me knocking him as I have a lot of time for him and we he has done to date and am keen to see more of him but I'm just being realistic about his prospects.

Also, has anyone heard any news about David Aloua? I know he took some time out to get married etc but it's been well over a year so does anyone know if we can expect him back on the first VS Live card? I know he's lost twice but I don't think its anywhere enough to end him is it?

Bowyn's management have been chasing this fight for some time to no avail.
The way I understand it Bowyn has a fight close to finalised for around that time but it's not in the north and I'm 99.99% sure Bowyn v Cairo will not happen any time soon.
It would be a massive change in plans from Cairo if he takes the Bowyn fight.

Bowyn Morgan told a friend on his Facebook page that he is fighting for the NZ Welterweight title in March. Cairo holds one and Anthony Taylor the other. Both have fought for it within the previous 12 months and don't have to (probably won't) vacate it for no reason. Taylor has fights scheduled around it and Cairo is fighting TBA in March. This was all I'm going on, that's why I said I think...
I'm under the impression Cairo has vacated that title.

According to Boxrec he still has it. Also, last year when Daniel Maxwell said he was going to fight someone else for it Cairo kicked up a big fuss saying it was still his and made sure it didn't happen.

None of this is official so correct me if I've got it wrong!

Nort Beachamp is also fighting in March and they usually fight on the same ChCh cards togetehr so maybe not.
I reckon Cairo George will end up fighting Ivana Siau for Siau's NZNBF middleweight, he seems to like winning belts. A fight versus Sitaleki Maka would be interesting but they're mates so won't happen. The lighter divisions in NZ are looking healthier than they ever have. I'm not sure why any of them Jackson, Taylor, George don't go down the commonwealth route. It'd be a good payday in Britain and a great opportunity.
Cairo fighting this guy - http://boxrec.com/boxer/661087

I really hoped it would be a step up, such a shame he can't attract bigger opportunities
Yeah I saw that on boxrec cheers tm, yeah poor choice. If your gonna pay for an aussie to fly over and fight at least get someone whos going to help you move up the rankings.

Agreed, I don't know if they are approaching guys and being declined, or just targeting the bottom end?
