Next time, Dannyboy. Just went to the venue to see what my job responsibilities were. They put up the ring this morning. Very excited. I've got a cold that I picked up when I got back from Singapore (33 degees to 5) but I should be able to go a few rounds tonite to help out!
Go well Die! Should be a good night. Sorry Nigs - missed your question. Grew up in Inglewood, but living in Auckland at the mo. Enjoy that Naki hospitality.
Great nite! The promoter had me taking the fighters out to the ring. With a ring girl as an escort, of course.

The big news is that James "Batman" Langton won by TKO over Monty Filipaea in the 7th. Monty was out on his feet. He protested the stoppage as he was wobbling back to his corner. Great victory. He's now the NZ Cruiserweight champ. Tua was in Monty's corner, and was shocked! He is so fat now. About 175kg. Very sad to see him like that. At the end of the fight, Monty told me he was done.

Paul McSherry was reffing. I told him that Sham, aka Ron Foley, told him hi. Paul goes, "is Ron here? I go, "only in spirit." Dan Hennessey was the MC announcer, and he was brilliant.

Steve Rapira won a UD that probably could have been stopped in the last round. Very good performance against a marginal opponent. Steve now needs to step it up.
What weight to Rapira come in at do you know Die?
79.3. He looked awesome against under-whelming opposition. Should have stopped the guy in the last round.

175 kilos is a couple of biscuits shy of 400 lb. damn that's huge.
He couldn't get into the ring, Cali. Sat on stool and occasionally told Monty what to do. That's two of Tua's fighters that Langton has stopped our KO'd, Pati and Monty.
What did he stop them with Die??
With Monty, James kept getting in the right hand, more of a right cross. Dropped him in the second. In the seventh, he caught him again, Monty was hurt, and he just kept whaling away at him with lefts and rights until McSherry stopped it. Monty protested the stoppage, but as he did so, he staggered to his corner, barely able to stand up. Another shot and he was going down.

Monty was bigger, had heaps of guys as part of his entourage, better sparring, and was the champ. Langton's sparring partner was Rapira, and his entourage was his coach and wife. Interestingly, he insisted on listening to the national anthem, while Tua said Monty wasn't interested. As Monty left the ring, I opened the corridor doors for him and told him "tough luck." He said, "I'm done." He fought a decent fight, but he just took what Monty offered and offered more.
I think Monty is a good boxer, Sham. And still aggressive. He shouldn't quit. James was just not to be denied. James got hit by some of Monty's shots, but he was able to shake it off and come back with his own. Lots of big exchanges at times. James was never hurt, so he must have some kind of chin. He came down from Heavyweight. I've had a cold, so haven't talked to him since the fight. I can't begin to tell you how happy he was when he won. He's 41 years old! Been fighting 3 years.
